There is still time to be heard. Congress is starting to backpedal on this job-killing, anti-American nonsense, and the Obama administration has weighed in against these bills as drafted, but SOPA/PIPA cannot be fixed or revised -- they must be killed altogether.

Sen Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Rep Ron Wyden (D-OR) are championing an alternative to SOPA/PIPA called Online Protection and Enforcement of Digital Trade Act (OPEN) that addresses foreign sites dedicated to piracy, without disrupting basic Internet protocols, or threatening mainstream US sites like craigslist.

Tim O'Reilly, a publisher who is himself subject to piracy, asks whether piracy is even a problem, and whether there is even a legitimate need for any of these bills.

This article by the controlled globalist media seeks to place this debate in political terms: Obama slashing government to disarm his junta leadership opponents in the upcoming "election" however that's not what's happening. Obama wants export agency, closing of Commerce Department

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama will ask Congress on Friday for authority to close the Commerce Department and create a new export agency, an overhaul that could save $3 billion and help inoculate him against Republican election-year charges that he is a big-government liberal.

White House budget official Jeffrey Zients told reporters the reorganization would fold together the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and other trade bodies now spread across Washington, giving businesses a single point of contact and ensuring federal spending goes further to boost exports.

Obama was set to deliver remarks at 11:20 a.m. on the new, yet-to-be-named department that would be tasked with achieving his goal of doubling exports in five years, a key part of his economic agenda as the November presidential vote nears.

The Democrat was expected to cast it as an effort to make the government leaner and more efficient, reducing bureaucracy for export-oriented companies.

The proposal - the first of a series of consolidation steps Obama is expected to pursue - comes amid growing concerns about huge federal deficits and the size of the government.

Obama wants to put the USTR, the U.S. Export-Import Bank, Overseas Private Investment Corp, the Trade and Development Agency, the Small Business Administration and parts of the Commerce Department under a new roof - something that has been under discussion for years.

Last March, he asked White House budget officials to examine whether to merge the groups as a way to save money and ensure that U.S. export promotion is as efficient as possible.

A White House official said on Friday the goal of the consolidation was to save $3 billion over 10 years. It may also lead to the loss of 1,000 to 2,000 jobs through attrition, the official said.

TRADE TIES

Obama will seek a vote in Congress within three months on the proposal, which may meet resistance from some lawmakers who have voiced concerns the risks of putting small, focused trade agencies into a large bureaucracy.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, one of Obama's fellow Democrats, and some other senior lawmakers have argued that the USTR, a cabinet-level agency of some 240 career employees, may lose its focus in a larger department.

But Obama is expected to say the move will help achieve his goal of doubling U.S. exports in five years - from $1.57 trillion in 2009 to $3.14 trillion by 2015. He has been trying to hitch the U.S. economy to faster growth in developing markets such as countries in Asia [and the Muslim world?] through closer trade ties.

With the election nearing, the White House has been working to highlight Obama's efforts to get things done in Washington in spite of gridlock in Congress. Resistance to the reorganization proposal would be cast by the White House as an example of Capitol Hill obstructionism.

"We think this is the sort of thing that should have bipartisan support," White House spokesman Jay Carney said.

Obama's proposal appeared to catch Republicans by surprise. They said they were reserving judgment until they had seen more details of what he was proposing.

"After presiding over one of the largest expansions of government in history, and a year after raising the issue in his last State of the Union, it's interesting to see the president finally acknowledge that Washington is out of control," said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell.

"We'll be sure to give it a careful review once the White House provides us with the details of what it is he wants to do," he said.

Republican presidential candidates vying to face Obama in the November election have been focusing in their campaign speeches on the size of the federal government and U.S. deficits, saying they pose a risk to the U.S. economy.

Chanukah -- the eight-day festival of light that begins on the eve of the 25th of the Jewish month of Kislev -- celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, of purity over adulteration, of spirituality over materiality.

More than twenty-one centuries ago, the Holy Land was ruled by the Seleucids (Syrian-Greeks), who sought to forcefully Hellenize the people of Israel. Against all odds, a small band of faithful Jews defeated one of the mightiest armies on earth, drove the Greeks from the land, reclaimed the Holy Temple in Jerusalem and rededicated it to the service of G-d.

When they sought to light the Temple's menorah (the seven branched candelabrum), they found only a single cruse of olive oil that had escaped contamination by the Greeks; miraculously, the one-day supply burned for eight days, until new oil could be prepared under conditions of ritual purity.

To commemorate and publicize these miracles, the sages instituted the festival of Chanukah. At the heart of the festival is the nightly menorah (candelabrum) lighting: a single flame on the first night, two on the second evening, and so on till the eighth night of Chanukah, when all eight lights are kindled.

On Chanukah we also add the Hallel and Al HaNissim in our daily prayers to offer praise and thanksgiving to G-d for "delivering the strong into the hands of the weak, the many into the hands of the few... the wicked into the hands of the righteous."

Chanukah customs include eating foods fried in oil -- latkes (potato pancakes) and sufganiot (doughnuts); playing with the dreidel (a spinning top on which are inscribed the Hebrew letters nun, gimmel, hei and shin, an acronym for Nes Gadol Hayah Sham, "a great miracle happened there"); and the giving of Chanukah gelt, gifts of money, to children.

A Saudi woman was beheaded after being convicted of practicing "witchcraft and sorcery," according to the Saudi Interior Ministry, at least the second such execution for sorcery this year.

The woman, Amina bint Abdulhalim Nassar, was executed in the northern Saudi province of al-Jawf on Monday.

A source close to the Saudi religious police told Arab newspaper al Hayat that authorities who searched Nassar's home found a book about witchcraft, 35 veils and glass bottles full of "an unknown liquid used for sorcery" among her possessions. According to reports, authorities said Nassar claimed to be a healer and would sell a veil and three bottles for 1500 riyals, or about $400.

According to the ministry, Nassar's death sentence was upheld by an appeals court and the Saudi Supreme Judicial Council.

Philip Luther, the interim direct of Amnesty International's Middle East and North Africa program, condemned Nassar's killing, calling it "deeply shocking."

"The charges of 'witchcraft and sorcery' are not defined as crimes in Saudi Arabia and to use them to subject someone to the cruel and extreme penalty of execution is truly appalling," Luther said.

Luther said that a charge of sorcery is often used by the Saudi government as a smokescreen under which they punish people for exercising freedom of speech.

Nassar was not the first person to be executed for alleged witchcraft by the Saudi government this year. In September, a Sudanese man was publicly decapitated with a sword in the city of Medina after he was found guilty of the same crime.

According to Amnesty International, at least 79 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia so far in 2011, more than three times as many as in 2010. The human rights group condemned the kingdom's reliance on capital punishment.

"Where the death penalty is used, under international law it should only be applied to the most serious crimes," Luther said.

The Saudi embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

I've been avoiding politics lately, mainly because I am convinced we have already passed the point of no return. This video series is very good however so I figured its worth sharing here. Nothing new in them, but sometimes a reminder is good.

Note that there is a strong pro-Ron Paul sentiment to these videos. As a worshiper of HaShem and a follower of Rebbe Y'shua I strongly reject Ron Paul and his anti-Semitic views. I therefore do not support this aspect of the videos. Otherwise however they are good and accurate according to my research.

Service Schedule Time Changes

Due to timing considerations expressed by various people Temple Beth HaShem and its various ministries have decided to change our broadcast times.

Shabbat of course always begins approximately 18 minutes before sunset on Fridays local time. During the winter months this often means around 4:30 PM and in the summer sunset is often late into the evening. This makes sharing in services difficult, especially with many of people living on both US coasts and beyond.

These changes are intended to make communications and sharing between us easier. Our websites and blogs will be updated to reflect these changes as soon as possible. Your thoughts on these changes are sincerely invited. They are as follows:

Congregation Beth HaTikvah

Hakham Yochanan ben Zalman of our Congregation Beth HaTikvah in Yardley, PA has announced that their broadcast Shabbat services will now take place at 7 PM EASTERN time each week (they will be lighting their candles as Shabbat begins regardless of broadcast time). The first service in their new location will be held tonight at 7 PM. Rebbe Larry plans to light the Shabbat candles according to the service time (so around 7:10 pm) and thus will be lighting the candles during the broadcast year round. Because the internet is not yet hooked up there Rebbe Larry will not be able to broadcast from there tonight. Since the internet is not yet available at the new shul, Rabbi Yochanan will be presenting the Beth HaShem service live at 7 PM PACIFIC tonight. All future Shabbat services from Temple Beth HaShem will be at 7 PM Pacific.

As soon as we can manage it, the Temple Beth HaShem Shabbat service will be broadcast live from the Fort Bragg shul and offered by Rebbe Larry Levine. These Shabbat services can be watched live here:

We're Back Home... Temple Website Hacked... Obladee Oblahdah...

We're back home (Oroville area California) now.

The trip was wonderful in more ways than we can express! We met with several of the yeshiva talmidim (students) and other friends and family members all across the US from Northern Ca to Rochester, NY to Yardley, PA, Pigeon Forge, NC, to Atlanta, GA, down into Ormond Beach and western Florida, to Dothan, Al and Dallas, Tx... . We performed weddings, conversion rites, an ordination, spoke to several people in various settings and more.... We exalted in the splendor of HaShem's creations as we experienced the sheer might of Niagara Falls, the awesome beauty of the Great Smokies, the swamps, rivers and people of the Southeast.... Oy! Such a blessing!

Over the next few days I hope to add the rest of the videos and photos not yet uploaded to our trip page as well as a bit description to put them into context: http://templebethhashem.org/roamnrabbi.html

We do have one difficulty however. The best I can figure is that a hacker has managed to take over the templebethhashem.org web site NAME. It currently has an alt page (that is not of our choosing!). I have spoken with the group that now controls our domain name (we don't now how they gained control of it!) and they have assured me this matter will be resolved soon. Please join with us in prayer to this end!

YeshivaBethHaShem.org and JewToo.org were not hacked and remain secure. All of the files for the temple website are safe and will be restored asap. This was an attack on our domain name not on our web server. Once I regain control of the name I will transfer it to a dependable host (where all the others were... Rebbe had paid for this name well into the future and so when I came on the scene I saw no reason for move it and loose that money... Now I do... not all name servers are honest nor professional. Thanks for your patience on this. We hope to resolve this within a day or two.

NOTE: Rebbe Larry and Hakham Leah are recovering nicely from their auto accident. They plan to sign the papers on the new shul and bookstore (in Fort Bragg, CA) on Wednesday and begin local services shortly thereafter. Hakham Ahuva and I will be remaining in this area (Orville-Chico-Paradise-Yankee Hill-Concow) for now at least. Please Be in Prayer: Our brother (Rebbe's dear son) Froim may have to go in for surgery soon. As many of you know, Froim is severely disabled. Carefully placed rods in his body enable him to walk and apparently one of these snapped after Froim took a fall recently. Rebbe told me you can feel the broken rod under his skin. Please be in prayer for Froim. He is a man overflowing with love and goodness and we pray for HaShem's mercy to be upon him.

We met this morning with Talmid Cheryl, also of Dallas, and had a wonderful time.

We didn't what was up... so we returned to the campground, figuring that HaShem had something new for us here (or that a major repair was coming). We asked the rangers here for a mechanic recommend and went where they said: RoadMart. We explained our problem to Adam, one of the mechanics, and soon he returned with the info. A spark plug wire had come undone somehow! That was it. We asked what we owed them and they said Nothing! Ya'll have a great vacation! Baruch HaShem! Other than the Daytona Beach Boardwalk parking garage (see last entry) everyone we've encountered here in Florida have been great. Now sure why HaShem wanted us here for another night... there are many possibilities (maybe we would have been in an accident, maybe gotten stuck if the truck had died, maybe we're supposed to meet someone... who can say. What we can say is Baruch HaShem! AND thank all of you who have been praying on out behalf. We have a couple of weeks left on this trip and you continuing prayers are certainly requested and appreciated.

Unless HaShem has other plans, we expect to leave here again in the morning and drive to Dallas.

We are in Stone Mountain, GA now and plan to stay: Friday, Oct 11 - 23.

I mentioned the kilt previously... Talmid Yaran has decided to not wear his kilt for the wedding in order to honor his family's preferences. However... Baruch HaShem ... as Hakham Ahuva and I were setting up camp we heard bagpipes! Investigating further we found a nice man from New Jersey playing the pipes beside the lake here. AND he informed us that THIS weekend is the Highland Games! Several clans of kilt-clad Highlanders are expected to be setting up camp here over the next couple of days! Two days of this annual event will be held right here at Stone Mountain! How cool is that? We were going to be camping at Lake Lanier originally but we felt led by HaShem to camp at Stone Mountain instead. I stumbled across a Celtic store in Gatlinburg, Tennessee (seems like an unlikely place!) and bought a kilt for the wedding (where we wont be wearing kilts after all) only to discover we camping at the site of Atlanta's annual Highland Games (where I will be). HaShem leads His people! Never doubt that!

The guy who handles the park's internet is supposed to be in the office tomorrow so I am hoping to talk with him and get our access expanded. If that's not possible, the dual conversions and wedding of Talmidim Yiska and Yaran, our Shabbat service, out special Sukkot broadcast and so on may not be broadcasted live as planned. If this is the case, I'll try and video tape them all and post them as I have access. There should be some very neat videos coming over the next couple of weeks!

I requested prayers for my parents before and I do so again now. Both are in ill health due to various age related issues. They are both doing well for now Baruch HaShem. We plan to visit them tomorrow before Sukkot begins. During this visit to the Atlanta area we'll also be visiting with my brother (a Baptist minster who sometimes posts here: maybe even attending his Sunday service) and my sister (an incredible artist), nieces, nephews and others. We're playing this portion of the trip largely by ear. We're having a great time, meeting lots of interesting people and so on. Including a man who sell rat cheese (video coming as soon as possible)!

Talmidim Yaran and Yiska should be camping with us Friday and Saturday. Yiska should be lighting the Shabbat candles this week.

I've always loved kilts and we found a Celtic shop in Gatlinburg! So I bought two kilts. Talmid Yaran says he plans to wear the kilt at his wedding to Yiska in Stone Mountain October 15th and now I can do the same! My ancestry is largely Cymry (an ethnic group centered in Wales) and kilts were as common among my ancesters as they are among the Scotts. Felly rwy'n falch o wisgo'r chilt!

Welcome to Tennessee

We arrived October 5. As I knew she would, Hakham Ahuva fell in love with the area immediately. You can go anywhere in the world you want but there is nowhere more beautiful, more comfortable than the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Autumn. We're a tad early for the changing of the leaves but the yearly transformation is already well under way. I just adore this area, I have since I was a kid in North Georgia and we came here for the leaves most autumns. But back then Pigeon Forge wasn't much; Cherokee (NC) and Gatlinburg (Tenn) were the places to be... not anymore! Pulling into Pigeon Forge was like driving into Vegas! Oy this place has grown! We'll be posting lots of videos and photos from here!

An update on our trip. Leaving Niagara Falls in the AM

Here's an update on our plans:

We'll be meeting with Tamid Christel in a few hours here in Niagara
Falls. We'll be going to the falls together and sounding the shofar
there HaShem willing. That video should be posted later today.

We'll be pulling out of Niagara Falls tomorrow morning and heading south
toward Yardley, PA. We have learned of a beautiful mountain top on the
way on an alternate route where we hope to welcome Rosh Hashana. If
possible we will make a video of the sounding of the shofar there and
upload it asap.

Then on Thursday we should pull into Yardely around 1 PM Eastern.

Friday evening the plan is for Hakham Yochanan and I to do the Shabbat
service together at 6:30 EASTERN time (on his normal channel: see
below).

Saturday morning at 11 AM EASTERN time we will do the weekly parsha
reading together on my normal channel (see below) and then at 1PM
EASTERN Hakham Yochanan and Gretchen will be renewing their marriage
vows from a authentic Messianic Jewish tradition. If possible they have

I haven't posted on this issue in a long time, in part because my view is that EVERYTHING that is going on with this topic is nothing but a smokescreen for what is really happening: i.e. the deliberate and calculated destruction of the USA and the justification for the outward implementation of the Novus Ordo Seclorum ("the New Order of the Ages"): The global dictatorship the coming Rex Mundi (Antichrist) will rule from once all the pieces are in place.
It matters very little if the ruling junta of the former USA calls itself Democrat or Republican. ALL members of the US Congress are traitors. Either directly or by collusion and silence. If this government is allowed to remain in power the US is over. Beginning with the next election NO ONE should be reelected and no one with any significant existing ties to any US party should be elected -- Not that that's going to happen of course.

Hence there's not really much point in discussing their various scare tactics and points -- social security checks wont go out (they did), which programs should be cut, how deeply, etc. We are being fed propaganda and fear and most people are gobbling it up.

Having said that.... here is a good piece of propaganda coming out of the globalist media that may help to clarify things a bit (note the dateline is WASHINGTON/SINGAPORE).

WASHINGTON/SINGAPORE (Reuters) - While the immediate crisis over a threatened default seems to have been averted by the eleventh-hour deal between the White House and Congress, the debt-limit drama has left behind crucial questions about the American political process, the viability of economic policy options and implications for the rest of the world.

The long, tortured debate exposed toxic partisanship and legislative dysfunction in Washington just when judicious efforts at reform were most needed, shaking the faith of international investors and ordinary Americans alike.

The most palpable concern was that gridlock had deprived policymakers of the monetary and fiscal tools they needed to shore up one of the world's bedrock economies, which some feared was already close to stalling.

"Because of the very public and intense squabbles in D.C., already-anemic economic growth will be weaker, the unemployment crisis will worsen, income and wealth inequality will deteriorate further and, ironically, the fiscal dynamics will be more challenging," said Mohamed El-Erian, co-chief investment officer of the international bond fund giant Pacific Investment Management Co., or PIMCO.

China, Washington's largest foreign creditor, has been particularly blunt about other countries' exposure to Washington's partisan warfare. "The ugliest part of the saga is that the well-being of many other countries is also in the impact zone when the donkey and the elephant fight," China's state-run news agency Xinhua wrote in a commentary, referring to the symbols of the Democratic and Republican parties.

Reuters posed several key questions to dozens of investors, policymakers, strategists and economists to gauge the implications of what the debt ceiling fight means for America and the world. While their judgment was almost uniformly dismissive to dire, their collective judgment was not entirely bleak: Republicans and Democrats were at least united on the fact that America must get its fiscal house in order.

WHAT DOES IT SAY ABOUT AMERICA'S ABILITY TO REMAIN THE WORLD'S SUPERPOWER?

Virtually everyone agreed that America's fiscal path is unsustainable: With a national debt of more than $14.3 trillion, the U.S. borrows forty cents of every dollar it spends.

Yet there is intense, fundamental disagreement on how to solve the problem, with Tea Party Republicans as passionately opposed to increasing taxes as progressive Democrats are to making deep cuts in the Social Security pension system and other so-called entitlement programs.

In the marginalization of the political center and dismal prospect for expedient reform, experts saw a threat to America's geopolitical strength.

"It's hard to maintain your influence globally when you can't manage your own country," said Barry Bosworth, a veteran fiscal and monetary policy expert at the Brookings Institution.

The former chair of President Barack Obama's Council of Economic Advisers tacitly agreed. "There is no way we can have persistent deficits of the size the Congressional Budget Office is predicting over the next 25 years and hope to remain the world's preeminent economic superpower," said Christina Romer, who left the CEA in September 2010. "If we don't deal with these deficits there is no way we won't eventually default and become a much weaker country."

Many Republicans and some Democrats fear that defense cuts could have the same effect. At least $350 billion of the initial $917 billion in spending cuts over 10 years are to come from defense and other security programs, which now account for more than half of discretionary spending.

The Pentagon budget for fiscal year 2010 was $680 billion, a reminder of the vast size and reach of America's global military power.

Many, including Pentagon experts, worried that another $500 billion of cuts over the next decade, which could be triggered by a failure of the second phase of the compromise plan, would gravely undercut the United States' international influence and its ability to execute a muscular foreign policy.

Pressure on the dollar as the world's reserve currency would also have geopolitical repercussions.

In the short-term, the United States' and the dollar's world standing is safe, because no other country is able or willing to take its place. Europe's own deep crisis with indebted nations such as Greece, Ireland and Portugal means that the euro is not quite the stable bet it once seemed to be, and China has no clear alternative to buying U.S. bonds to prevent its huge trade surplus from driving up the value of its tightly managed yuan.

But China's economy is rapidly shifting, and its need for reserves of Treasury debt will shrink, according to Stephen Roach, a senior lecturer at Yale University and non-executive chairman of Morgan Stanley.

Beijing's latest five-year economic plan focuses on building up domestic consumption, and China could even post a current account deficit by 2015, Roach said - meaning it would no longer need to buy as much debt. "They are moving away from the dollar whether we like it or not," he said.

If the dollar lost its status as the world's reserve currency it would do more than undercut America's geopolitical position: It would drive up interest rates and borrowing costs for the government, businesses and households.

PIMCO's El-Erian described the debt-limit battle as a "self-inflicted wound that weakens the economy and erodes its standing globally."

John Steele Gordon, a financial historian, downplayed the immediate effect of the debt-ceiling fight. "I don't think it will change the U.S.'s superpower status to any degree. We've had these knock down fights before."

Yet he too saw the government's budget deficit as make-or-break for America's place in the world: "What will affect superpower status is if the U.S. continues to spend more money than it takes in."

HOW MUCH DOES THE DEBT DEAL FIX THE U.S. FISCAL CRISIS?

There is no way to curb soaring U.S. debt without confronting three of the biggest drivers of American spending: Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare. Deep cuts in any of them represent deal-breakers to large and powerful political forces.

Left unreformed, these three programs - the federal pension system and the programs that support health care for the poor and the elderly - would devour every cent of America's tax revenues by 2047, according to the non-partisan Government Accountability Office.

Yet even with the threat of a catastrophic default as an incentive, and agreement by both parties that deficits must be brought under control, the debt-limit deal that finally emerged still failed to include robust reform of what are described as "entitlements".

The failure is symptomatic: Every important economic lever must work against a big political stick in the gears.

With more government stimulus "off the table," the slow-growing economy cannot generate enough jobs to pull down the unemployment rate. That in turn means Washington has to spend even more than expected on unemployment benefits, food stamps, Medicaid and other programs. Cuts in those programs would then become even more painful.

With tax hikes likewise "off the table," tax revenues will be restrained by weak consumer spending and idled labor.

And so on.

As a result, PIMCO's El-Erian expected the debt-ceiling compromise to do "very little, if at all" to fix America's underlying fiscal crisis. "Remember a sovereign debt burden is defined as total liabilities relative to a country's ability to service them. So it is not just about the debt stock, the maturity profiles and interest rates. It is also critically about the ability to grow. And this crisis has undermined growth, investment and employment."

Romer said "a holding pattern" is the most likely outcome of the debt debate saga. "It deals with the immediate issue of the debt ceiling but doesn't face up to our long-term deficit problem."

Morgan Stanley's Roach put it bluntly: "Make no mistake, we are not getting a major breakthrough in America's fiscal dilemma out of this deal. Talk about kicking the can down the road - this is probably the biggest can that's ever been kicked."

Shabbat Service July 29, 2011

Was Friday July 29th weird where you are?

It sure was here!
We got up a bit early and made our way into the big city... well OK... into Oroville. But hey, when you live on the side of a butte surrounded by pot fields even Oroville (population 14,660) can seem big...

Anyway....Going down the freeway something felt wrong. When people passed us they looked somehow... not there, like their bodies had forgotten to wake up their souls. We tended to our business, piece of pie, everything was good and successful. Then we decided to stop at Wallmart real quick (I know we're all supposed to be boycotting them... but who really is?). In the parking lot we were nearly hit several times. People were backing out of spaces without looking, cutting across the lanes, going the wrong way on one way lanes...And in the store... nothing was really "wrong" but.... nothing was right either. It just felt creepy.

So we headed up to our second appointment 20 miles north to meet a friend. We were helping him with something but when we got there no one was home, even though we had arranged the meeting just the night before. We go to his front door, knocked... and the door opened! He NEVER leaves his door unlocked let alone open. I looked out toward the street and an elderly woman was raking a leafless lawn and staring at us. It felt like Castle Rock! We went into the house to make sure everything was OK. No one was home and everything seemed normal. We wrote a quick note and left.

Driving away there was that same ominous sense of not-rightness. This wasn't Mr. Rodger's neighborhood ("wont you be my neighbor") this was more like Steven King's neighborhood ("won't you be my ghoul!").

We hadn't found what we wanted at Walmart so we stopped at K-Mart in Paradise (can you believe Sears is now part of KMart! Wouldn't Mr. Roebuck be proud!). Good news, Kmart had what we wanted.

All of a sudden we (Hakham Ahuva and I) were absolutely famished (which was odd, neither of us usually eat much in the mornings but we were both so hungry we would have eaten almost anything --- almost ....).

This Kmart has a Little Caesar's restaurant in one corner (now that I think of it that's interesting too! Ceaser's on a day like this...). Turning right beside a display case of ghastly clothing for the restaurant there was the friend we were supposed meet! But he was in a wheel chair and looking as sickly as I'd ever seen him. After a very brief conversion he suggested the Nathan (kosher) hotdog special , asked us to come back to his house and rolled unceremoniously away. Again, not wrong, just weird.

The woman behind the counter had a blank yet harried expression on her face. Hakham Ahuva asked for the Crazy Bread and the woman stared at her blankly. Ahuva told her again what she'd like and the cashier said, "I wonder what that costs" in a deadpan voice and almost staggered out from behind the counter to look at the display sign. I wont bore you with the details of our fruitless attempt to be fed, but none of the three women working there had any idea how much anything cost, what the difference was between the regular nachos and the supreme nachos (which I was considering), nor apparently how to cook anything being sold at Little Caesar's. Par the course this day... but odd all the same.

It literally took the woman at the cash register ten minutes, I am not exaggerating, to enter our order into the computer. Meanwhile behind us customers came, paused and left as they saw the absolute incompetence of the staff. It was as if they were ... dare I saw it... zombies. that was the sense. The lights were on, dimly at least, but no one was home.

At one point Ahuva suggested the cook might want to go ahead and get started on her order while the cashier struggled with pushing the number buttons, but the "cook" barked, "Sometimes employees do bad things, things we can't ignore and when that kind of thing happens we in management have to step in and replace them (the emphasis she placed on "replace them" was another tip of the hat Steven Kings -- of maybe Dean Koons). Management had replaced them which, presumably, was a good thing... except that... the replacements were utterly untrained for their tasks!

I whispered to Ahuva that perhaps we should go elsewhere but she, a kind hearted and patient soul... and a person keenly aware of the absolute weirdness of this day thus far... shook her head. "No, we should give these women a chance." Surely they were doing their best --- insert rude comment here --- so we waited, and again explained that Crazy Bread and Crazy Sauce really do go well together and that since the bread cost $2.00 and the sauce $1.50 perhaps she might consider just adding the two figures together -- since she couldn't find the combo button on her register (she nodded at the suggestion and said under her breath that's $2.00 plus $1.50 = $4.50 (no dear... it equals 3.50)....

So finally the untrained cashier, manager, mathematician asks, "Would you like to sign up for the K-Mart Club and save money on your next purchase?" Her zombied countenance suddenly shifted to that of a Stepford Wife and her former gray countenance became positively aglow! For a few seconds.

Instinctively we both took a step back.

Yet our ever patient Hakham Ahuva paused and replied completely deadpan, "No thank you. But I would like my food if you think that's possible!"

"Huh? Oh sure..." she murmured..

So now the cashier cum coupon seller cum rain (wo)man called out in her best greasy spoon accent: "Crazy Bread, Crazy Sauce and..."

At that the oh so charming cook said, "I don't know how to make Crazy Bread, let me check the book..."

At that I figured we had three viable choices:
1. We could rush off to the Goth section (this Kmart actually had one!), grab an upside-down crucifix and put the zombie out of her (and our) misery
2. We could fall to the floor in hysterics, while asking where the Candid Camera was hidden (you'll understand if you're over 30)
Or
3. We could quietly back away and leave -- hoping that nothing undead emerged by the back room to block our departure.

We left....

We went back to our friend's house, had a nice visit, did what we needed to do, and then drove back to Oroville -- noting every few miles how amazingly badly many of the people (if that's what they were muhahah) were driving (it was like driving in downtown Berkley or DC only in slow motion! ... cars were swerving across the lanes, double and triple parking for no apparent reason, passing when it was not safe to do so...and always VERY painfully slowly....

Needless to say we took extra care, finished our business with about 2 hours to get home for Shabbat. Easy as pie....

But as we drove along highway 70 and back into the buttes we came around a curve and then upon a short line of cars. A policemen, dripping sweat in 109 degree temperature, was going car to car with unwelcome news and turning everyone back. I rolled down my window.

"What's up?"
"Where you heading?"
"Yankee Hill."
"Can't get there from here."
"No?"
"Nope, been a wreck. Bodies strewed all over the highway up there. Road's closed from Penz to Cherokee."

Checking for alternative routes we realized there was no way we could home in time for the broadcast of our Shabbat service. We'd have to drive all the way around the lake (and its a big lake!). The way things were going we figured Bigfoot or one of his buds would probably step out of the woods on that remote route and pounce on us... not really... but today I would not have been that surprised had that happened!

So... since we had our laptops and MacDonald's offers free WIFI now I figured I could broadcast an abbreviated Shabbat service from there... might be interesting.

As we pulled into the parking lot an SUV was straddling two of concrete parking lot dividers and rocking back and forth. As we -- and an interesting looking homeless guy in his early 70's I'd guess, sitting on the curb sipping a coke and munching fries -- watched the SUV it suddenly roared and jerked with a mighty bolt over the curbing and drove away. Where its rear tire had been a large broken hole in the blacktop remained. We pondered whether the hole could have been caused by the SUV and decided that this day... yeah, probably was...

We also kept tract of the Highway Patrol report on the Net and eventually discovered that one person had died in what was apparently a pretty serious accident... the cop had surely exaggerated about the strewn bodies... but given the day and the zombies that were driving all over town it seem plausible enough that highway 70 might be strewn with corpses and that those might be reanimated... The ride home might be interesting....

So, we hurried back home uneventfully -- none of the Undead barring our way -- and get here with ten minutes to spare. I quickly set up the camera, did my sound check etc. and at 8:01, just a minute late, I clicked the broadcast button to go live...

And... well, its not that nothing happened... something happened. Its not that we didn't have internet access, the connection was weak but strong enough... But when I clicked "Broadcast" the button greyed out but did not give a fail to connect not the connected display, but nothing happened. Same with the record button... But the main screen said "Connected." I looked for the live feed at TempleBethHaShem.org... nada. I restarted, tried a couple of times and decided to just record the audio (which you can hear above).

After the broadcast I came inside to upload the audio to my website and thought, I wonder... so I tried the broadcast live button... and of course it worked fine...

So wonders of wonders... only a couple of minutes uploaded to my website even though the whole service did record. I gave up and went to sleep (I need my beauty sleep!).

Oy!!! Such a day!

This morning I tried again and everything is completely as its supposed to be.

So... here (I hope!) is the audio of last night's Shabbat service from Beth Yachad and Temple Beth HaShem.

No Virginia, there were no real zombies in Oroville... but SOMETHING was really off!

The United States administration's recent decision to establish contacts with Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood organization is a severe blow to moderate, secular Muslims who are trying to achieve democracy and prosperity in their countries.

The U.S. announcement will only undermine the so-called "Facebook Uprising" that has been sweeping the Arab and Muslim world in the past few months.

This is an uprising spearheaded by secular Muslims who have, until now, succeeded in marginalizing Islamic fundamentalist groups like the Muslim Brotherhood.

The Muslim Brotherhood did not play any role in toppling the regimes in Tunisia and Egypt. Nor does the organization seem to have any significant role in the anti-government uprisings in Yemen, Syria and Libya.

But the Obama administration's decision to engage the Muslim Brotherhood will pump life into the organization and bolster its supporters in the rest of the Arab and Muslim countries.

Moreover, the decision sends a message to radical Muslims that they are marching in the right direction and it is only a matter of time before the rest of the world, including the Leader of the Free World, recognizes them as legitimate players.

Those who want to conduct dialogue with the Muslim Brotherhood are also endorsing the organization's political and religious allies, including Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Hizbullah.

These organizations seek to impose strict Islamic teachings and laws on all Muslims and Arabs. Their common goal is to take the Arabs and Muslims several centuries back.

Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said that the Obama administration is open to dialogue with the once-banned Muslim Brotherhood.

The Muslim Brotherhood, for its part, has, of course, welcomed that decision, expressing hope that Washington has "revised its previous policies and decided to side with the rights of the people and their demands to stop supporting the corrupt and tyrannical regimes, backing the Zionist occupation and using double standards."

If the Obama administration is going to talk to the Muslim Brotherhood, there is no reason why it should not also launch dialogue with Hamas, the Taliban, Hizbullah and even al-Qaeda. Engaging Muslim extremists, without demanding that they abandon their dangerous policies and violence, is a huge mistake.

With the current Muslim government of the US, the kangaroo "supreme court" and so on this COULD happen.

San Francisco to Vote on Anti-Circumcision Law

Last year I posted about Lloyd Schofield, a San Francisco resident who at the time was 7,100 signatures away from getting an anti-circumcision measure added to the November 2011 ballot. Today, an update: According to the Forward, Schofield has succeeded in collecting enough signatures to force a vote on a law that would make it illegal to "circumcise, excise, cut or mutilate the foreskin, testicle or penis of another person who has not attained the age of 18."

If passed, the law would prevent Jewish couples from circumcising their sons - a practice, known as brit milah, that has traditionally symbolized the covenant between God and male Jews. The Forward has published two essays on the topic, one by filmmaker Eli Ungar Sargo that opposes circumcision, and one by Dr. Melvin Konner that is in favor of the practice. "By allowing parents to permanently alter the bodies of their children, the state is failing to protect its most vulnerable citizens from bodily harm," writes Sargo. Dr. Konner disagrees:

"This is a serious tradition, one for which Jews have fought and sacrificed throughout our long history. It is not harmful, and it may have medical benefits. The proposed ban should and will be opposed by all right-thinking people of any religious faith and by decent people without faith who recognize the rights of parents to decide, within broad limits, what is best for their own children."

In late May, four Muslim me were tried in London, England and were found guilty of a vicious attack against a local schoolmaster named Gary Smith who was the head of religious studies at the Central Foundation Girls' School, an academically prestigious school for girls ages 11 to 18. Mr. Smith's head was smashed by a concrete block; his face was slashed by a knife; and his body was beaten by a metal rod. THIS IS WHAT SHARIAH LAW TEACHES...AND IT IS ALREADY INSIDE THE U.S.A.

His crime: "He's mocking Islam and he's putting doubts in people's minds. How can somebody take a job to teach Islam when they're not even a Muslim themselves?"

Under Shariah Law, just about any words which are not in total agreement with Islam can be interpreted as blasphemy, a crime punishable by death. Obviously, the four men on trial in London were just trying to do their part in making the United Kingdom become "Shariah compliant."

Imam Feisal Rauf, the original promoter of the Ground Zero Mosque, is currently on a national speaking tour explaining how Shariah Law leads to freedom and telling audiences that America is a "Shariah compliant state." Rauf's speech about the freedoms promised by Shariah Law is a good illustration of the strategy of "taqiyya," or LYING to further the spread of Islam. Shariah has already infiltrated some of our court systems right here in the United States of America. And we must STOP this onslaught!

U.S. Rep. Sandy Adams (R-FL) introduced H.R. 973 which outlaws foreign law from our U.S. Court system. She had 56 co-sponsors. Why aren't more Congressmen committing to this very important bill? That's why we must fax them to let them know how patriotic Americans truly feel. It is still in the Subcommittee of the U.S. Constitution and has been since March 9th. This bill is too important to stay in a Committee for that long. Let's fax our Congressmen to raise our voice of support.

Finally, after years of "taking it on the chin," the United Kingdom is also voting on a new Bill that was introduced in the House of Lords THIS WEEK---to outlaw Shariah Law where it conflicts with English law!

Baroness Cox stated: "Equality under the law is a core value of British justice. My Bill seeks to stop parallel legal or 'quasi-legal' systems taking root in our nation. Cases of criminal law and family law are matters reserved for our English courts alone.

"Through these proposals, I want to make it perfectly clear in the law that discrimination against women shall not be allowed within arbitration. I am deeply concerned about the treatment of Muslim women by Shariah Courts. We must do all that we can to make sure they are free from any coercion, intimidation or unfairness. Many women say, 'We came to this country to escape these practices only to find the situation is worse here'."

In the meantime---Egypt has just THIS WEEK legalized terrorism in its country!

Egypt's long-banned terrorist organization, The Muslim Brotherhood, has been legally recognized as the Freedom and Justice Party, Egypt's official news agency reported last Tuesday. The announcement would allow the Shariah-Law group to run in parliamentary elections set for this September.

The Brotherhood is considered one of Egypt's best-organized blocs following the fall of longtime President Hosni Mubarak in February. It was founded in 1928, but was outlawed since 1954. The terrorist group has said it plans to field candidates in about half of Egypt's districts. And part of your tax dollars went to support those who came against Mubarak! Yes, even a terrorist network!

Islamic Shariah Law has crept into a few legal courts inside this great, exceptional America. And for me, and I believe you also, this is one step too far. Sure, I believe in the "freedom of religion" for all people in the United States. That's one of the cornerstones of our democracy that makes our country great. As it says at the Statue of Liberty---"Give me your tired, poor, huddled masses..."

But when a radical religion mindset begins to interfere with our judicial system, I believe we should stand up to that and tell it like it really is. Do you agree?

This bill would prohibit federal judges from using international law to decide any issue in a case. In addition to the radical nation-changing laws of Shariah, this bill comes against the dangerous United Nations treaties and a growing body of international law that has been created by unelected foreign bureaucrats. These treaties and international laws would severely restrict parental rights and home school freedom if brought into United States law. We must protect the integrity of our judicial system to make sure that our courts and our judges ONLY use the U.S. Constitution and domestic law in their decisions.

H.R. 973 would also ensure that federal judges could not look to un-ratified U.N. treaties (like the U.N. Convention on the Rights of the Child) and international law as precedent in their opinions. Shariah Law is trying to overtake our U.S. Judicial System and must be stopped! H.R. 973 passage will prevent foreign law in our federal court system. We must fax NOW!

Shariah Law continues to spread its "web" inside the United States. In a recent report, "more than 80% of mosques advocate or promote violence."

MANY mosques around the United States have been identified in a new study as "incubators" for jihad against America.

"Of the 100 mosques surveyed, 51 percent had texts on-site rated as severely advocating violence; 30 percent had texts rated as moderately advocating violence; and 19 percent had no violent texts at all," said the survey compiled by Mordechai Kedar and David Yerushalmi and published by the Middle East Quarterly.

In the Washington Times on Thursday, Frank Gaffney noted very seriously: "How's this for a wake-up call?"

Among the findings in the study, "Shariah and Violence in American Mosques," by Kedar, an assistant professor at Bar Ilan University in Israel, and Yerushalmi, the general counsel for Center for Security Policy, were that:

Of the 51 percent of the mosques with texts severely advocating violence, 100 percent were led by imams who recommended that worshippers study texts promoting violence.
In 84.5 percent of the mosques, the imam recommended studying violence-positive texts.
Mosques identified as being more Shariah-adherent, that is, their imams wore beards, the segregated men from women and the like, were more likely "to feature violence-positive texts on site."
Nearly three in five of the mosques invited guest imams known to promote violent jihad.

The Torah was given by HaShem (God) to the Jewish people on Mount Sinai more than 3300 years ago. Every year on the holiday of Shavuot we renew our acceptance of HaShem's gift, and HaShem "re-gives" the Torah.

The word Shavuot means "weeks." It marks the completion of the seven-week counting period between Passover and Shavuot.

The giving of the Torah was a far-reaching spiritual event-one that touched the essence of the Jewish soul for all times. Sages have compared it to a wedding between HaShem and the Jewish people. Shavuot also means "oaths," for on this day HaShem swore eternal devotion to us, and we in turn pledged everlasting loyalty to Him.

It is important to note that the Hebrews were a people before the giving of the Torah, and on the giving of HaShem's Torah became a faith. All Jews were converts on this day.

The holiday of Shavuot is a two-day holiday, beginning at sundown of the 5th of Sivan and lasting until nightfall of the 7th of Sivan. (In Israel it is a one-day holiday, ending at nightfall of the 6th of Sivan.)

Women and girls light holiday candles to usher in the holiday, on both the first and second evenings of the holidays.

It is customary to learn Torah the first night, and some people do this all night until sun up.

On the first day of Shavuot all people should hear the reading or read for themselves the Ten Commandments. Exodus :20

As on other holidays, special meals are eaten, and no "work" may be performed.

It is customary to eat dairy foods on Shavuot.

On the second day Some people read the Book of Ruth publicly, as King David-whose passing occurred on this day-was a descendant of Ruth the Moabite. Ruth was a dedicated convert to Judaism.

As A Messianic Jew I joyfully celebrate this sacred day by remembering and honoring the day Moshe and the Jewish people received HaShem's Torah, blessing and covenant at Sinai.

You shall count for yourselves -- from the day after the Shabbat, from the day when you bring the Omer of the waving -- seven Shabbats, they shall be complete. Until the day after the seventh sabbath you shall count, fifty days... You shall convoke on this very day -- there shall be a holy convocation for yourselves -- you shall do no laborious work; it is an eternal decree in your dwelling places for your generations. -Leviticus 21:15-16, 21

Shavu'ot, the Festival of Weeks, is the second of the three major festivals with both historical and agricultural significance (the other two are Passover and Sukkot). Agriculturally, it commemorates the time when the first fruits were harvested and brought to the Temple, and is known as Hag ha-Bikkurim (the Festival of the First Fruits). Historically, it celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai, and is also known as Hag Matan Torateinu (the Festival of the Giving of Our Torah).

The period from Passover to Shavu'ot is a time of great anticipation. We count each of the days from the second day of Passover to the day before Shavu'ot, 49 days or 7 full weeks, hence the name of the festival. See The Counting of the Omer. The counting reminds us of the important connection between Passover and Shavu'ot: Passover freed us physically from bondage, but the giving of the Torah on Shavu'ot redeemed us spiritually from our bondage to idolatry and immorality. Shavu'ot is also known as Pentecost, because it falls on the 50th day; however, Shavu'ot has no particular similarity to the Christian holiday of Pentecost, which occurs 50 days after their Spring holiday.

It is noteworthy that the holiday is called the time of the giving of the Torah, rather than the time of the receiving of the Torah. The sages point out that we are constantly in the process of receiving the Torah, that we receive it every day, but it was first given at this time. Thus it is the giving, not the receiving, that makes this holiday significant.

Shavu'ot is not tied to a particular calendar date, but to a counting from Passover. Because the length of the months used to be variable, determined by observation (see Jewish Calendar), and there are two new moons between Passover and Shavu'ot, Shavu'ot could occur on the 5th or 6th of Sivan. However, now that we have a mathematically determined calendar, and the months between Passover and Shavu'ot do not change length on the mathematical calendar, Shavu'ot is always on the 6th of Sivan (the 6th and 7th outside of Israel. See Extra Day of Holidays.)

Work is not permitted during Shavu'ot.

It is customary to stay up the entire first night of Shavu'ot and study Torah, then pray as early as possible in the morning.

It is customary to eat a dairy meal at least once during Shavu'ot. There are varying opinions as to why this is done. Some say it is a reminder of the promise regarding the land of Israel, a land flowing with "milk and honey." According to another view, it is because our ancestors had just received the Torah (and the dietary laws therein), and did not have both meat and dairy dishes available. The book of Ruth is read at this time. Again, there are varying reasons given for this custom, and none seems to be definitive.

One of these days the bystanders will start coming to the defense of such victims when they witness these sorts of violations and then "Change" will begin.

It will be messy business but that day is coming.

Imagine what would have happened if those in the courtroom waiting for their own rights to be violated had risen like free citizens of a free country and come to Pete's defense and jumped the bailiffs? Handcuffing them! The battle would have doubtless been lost, but such an opening salvo COULD be how the US Constitution is restored (if that ever happens). One thing is certain, if the people of the former USA don't stand the nation will never be restored.

And by the way, it doesn't matter if these guys look for opportunities to uphold their/our civil rights or not!

In 1963 the march from Selma to Montgomery didn't "just happen."

The way civil and human rights are protected is when brave people like these men place themselves into harm's way to uphold the rights of us all. We should be grateful to them.

It is not a crime to wear a hat, its an antiquated social convention. Free people are not bound to observe such customs. Kudos to Pete Eyre and his friends!

A top spiritual adviser to Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Ayatollah Mohammed Tagbi Mesbah, has issued an edict clarifying the duty of Muslims to kill Jews by any means possible--including suicide attacks. "When protecting Islam," the cleric wrote, "Muslim people depend on martyrdom operations. It not only is allowed, but even is an obligation."

Mesbah's followers regard his words as binding religious edicts. His statement clearly directs them to strike even at Jewish children. This evil spirit of hatred and anti-Semitism is ruling the nation of Iran. It is the driving force behind their nuclear weapons program. They seek the means to accomplish Ahmadinejad's stated goal to "wipe Israel off the map." What they have not yet been able to accomplish on a grand scale they are being instructed and encouraged to do on an individual basis.

Israel's enemies do not want peace...they want Israel destroyed. The celebration of the liberation of Jerusalem in 1967--Yom Yerushalayim--this past Wednesday was a bittersweet day in some ways. The Obama administration's final betrayal of Israel has begun.

In case you missed, last Thursday's presidential address may well go down in history as the beginning of the end of the State of Israel. Never before has an American President so brazenly embraced the "Palestinian" cause; never before has an American President so contemptuously pushed Israel into a corner. To proclaim that the borders of a Palestinian state must be drawn according to the 1967 lines, ignoring all the issues that should be negotiated on the way to two secure states and ignoring that Israel will someday have to defend these borders from Palestinian hatred, tells two lies at once: that the Palestinians have been sincerely searching for peace, and that Israel is the problem.

The Freedom Center has devoted its twenty years of existence to telling the truth about the crisis in the Middle East--the fact that the Palestinians want to destroy the state of Israel far more than they want to create a state for themselves; that they are planning a new holocaust even as they are denying the Holocaust that actually happened. Never Again is more than a slogan: it is a commitment and a pledge.

This Sunday morning, May 22, at 10 a.m., the sounds of the adhan - the
Muslim call to prayer - will ring out in St. John's Episcopal Church
Montclair .

While there's no minaret at the church, the words of "Allahu akbar," (God is
greater) will none-the-less invite both Christians and Muslims to worship
side by side. During the interfaith service, verses from the Holy Qur'an
will complement readings from the Holy Bible, including during Communion,
embracing the traditions of both religions.

Reverend Andrew Butler, Rector of St. John's parish since September 1, 2010,
decided to have this service in order to demonstrate that both Islam and
Christianity stem from Abrahamic roots, as well as to dispell negative
stereotypes about the Muslim faith.

"I've grown concerned about the demonization of Muslims. I want Montclair to
develop an understanding of the religion." Reverend Butler stated.

In addition to Butler , speakers will include Anisa Mehdi, a scholar and
journalist who will describe what it means to be a Muslim in America and
Abdul-Alim Mubarak-Rowe, an assistant Imam at Masjid Waarith ud Deen in
Irvington , a media consultant to the American Muslim Alliance and a
journalist.

The Reverend went on to say, "We are trying to find ways to blend our
community through religion. It's hard, but we can accomplish it through this
organic event and working together through outreach and other ministries of
compassion."

This interfaith service isn't only trying to blend religions, is also a way
to invite the public to visit St. John 's Episcopal Church. After the
service, at 11am, conversation about Islam and Islam in America will
continue.

Harold Camping emerged from his Alameda, California home yesterday to face reporters for the first time since the Rapture that never happened. Wearing a light jacket and speaking over chirping birds, Camping told the San Francisco Chronicle he was "flabbergasted" that the world did not end on Saturday. "I'm looking for answers," he told the reporter. "But now I have nothing else to say. I'll be back to work Monday and will say more then." Camping followers are similarly perplexed. "I don't think I am going to stop listening to him," one man added, heaving a deep sigh before continuing: "I don't know, I gotta listen to him on Monday, see what he says on the radio.

"Somewhat bewildered" and "mystified is how Camping's wife described her husband, before he finally emerged from his home yesterday afternoon. The International Business Times managed to capture Camping on camera, refusing to surrender any more than a few words and promising. "Give me a day, no interviews at all today -- sorry," Camping said. "You know this is a big deal, big deal, and I've got to live with it and I've got to think it out. So no interview."

Camping's relative silence since Saturday's anti-climactic continuation of life on Earth weighs heavy on his followers' confidence. Robert Fitzpatrick, the 60 year-old retired New York transit worker who spent $140,000 on billboards for the coming apocalypse, responded with bewilderment as well. "I can't tell you what I feel right now," he told a crowd of reporters and tourists in Times Square Saturday evening. "I haven't understood it correctly because I'm still here."

At least one person may benefit from Camping's failure. As we pointed out last week, author and would-be Doomsday prophet Tim Lahaye is next in line to announce his prediction for the end of the world.

The Bible says, "I will bless them who bless thee, and curse him who curses thee." (Genesis 12:3) The prophet Zechariah proclaimed that the nations which touch Jerusalem would injure themselves.

Wondering about the fate of your pets after Judgment Day? Well, for $135, a loving atheist will care for your animal if you're not around anymore.
Eternal Earthbound Pets offers a service to rescue and take care of pets once their owners have been taken away to the heavenly realms. Though doomsayers say this Saturday will be the latest day of reckoning that's not expected to leave animals behind either.
Bart Centre of New Hampshire, co-owner of the pet business, launched it in June 2009. He has zero belief in Judgment Day, but began to see an increase in sales inquiries in December, which, he believes, is related to Family Radio's heavy marketing campaign around the May 21 date.
The retired retail executive said he has sold 258 contracts so far.
"That's out of 40 million targeted 'rapture' believers, so it's not like we're making a billion dollars," he said.
Still, Centre is among the opportunistic entrepreneurs who have made the most of doomsayers' predictions and people's eagerness to believe them, although some of them have seen no bump in business and Family Radio can't imagine anyone operating a business amid the ruins of a post-apocalyptic world anyway.
Family Radio, a non-profit, listener-supported religious organization based in Oakland, Calif., has declared that May 21 will mark the end of the world when Jesus Christ arrives for his second coming and the "rapture" of his believers. The organization encourages people to visit its website.
Eternal Earthbound Pets' sales increased during the first quarter of this year by 27 percent compared to the first quarter of last year, which Centre attributes to the May 21 campaign.
"My business partner [in Minnesota] and I launched in a handful of states initially. Now, it's much larger," he said, adding that he has designated rescuers in 26 states.
Centre increased his rates in January. It now costs $135 to rescue one pet and $20 for an additional pet at the same address, which he collects up front. That's up from $110 for the first pet and $10 for an additional pet.
And Centre takes his business seriously. He said he performed a credit history and criminal background on his 44 rescuers: those who are assigned to rescue any pets left behind. The contract fees are split among them.
Other profiteers are practicing a quote by newly inaugurated Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel: "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste."
Emanuel was referring to energy policy in 2008, but Joshua Witter, a software engineer, shared that mentality when he started Post-Rapture Post, a message delivery service to those left behind after the apocalypse.

The people of God will remain HERE ON THE EARTH resisting the Antichrist and his New World Order throughout the seven year Tribulation Period.
Most of us will die before the end of the seven years: Some as martyrs, some from the earthquakes, some from the plagues and so on.
Revelation 7:13 One of the elders asked me, "These people dressed in white robes - who are they, and where are they from?"
14 "Sir," I answered, "you know." Then he told me, "These are the people who have come out of the Great Tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white with the blood of the Lamb.
After the (just shy of) seven years the people of HaShem will come out of (or through) the Great Tribulation and receive the blessings of the Messianic Kingdom.
Some Believers will come through as martyrs and some few will survive the ordeal and enter the Kingdom without tasting death.
Matthew 24:21 For there will be trouble then worse than there has ever been from the beginning of the world until now, and there will be nothing like it again!
22 Indeed, if the length of this time had not been limited, no one would survive; but for the sake of those who have been chosen, its length will be limited.

Were the planed seven years not shortened no flesh would survive. But to rescue People Israel (the Elect or Chosen) the seven years will be cut short by some measure (probably weeks).
It would be wonderful to take a trip on the good old Gospel Ship!
But friend, that is NOT what the prophets say is going to happen!
Don't be deceived by promises of a Rapture, whether by Harold Camping or anyone else.
As Paul warns:
II Thessalonians 2:1 But in connection with the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah and our gathering together to meet him, we ask you, brothers,
2 not to be easily shaken in your thinking or anxious because of a spirit or a spoken message or a letter supposedly from us claiming that the Day of the Lord has already come.
3 Don't let anyone deceive you in any way. For the Day will not come until after the Apostasy has come and the man who separates himself from Torah has been revealed, the one destined for doom.
4 He will oppose himself to everything that people call a god or make an object of worship; he will put himself above them all, so that he will sit in the Temple of God and proclaim that he himself is God.
5 Don't you remember that when I was still with you, I used to tell you these things?
6 And now you know what is restraining, so that he may be revealed in his own time.
7 For already this separating from Torah is at work secretly, but it will be secretly only until he who is restraining is out of the way.
8 Then the one who embodies separation from Torah will be revealed, the one whom the Lord Yeshua will slay with the breath of his mouthd and destroy by the glory of his coming.

The Order of Events:
Verse 1: Our gathering together: Moshiach will gather ALL Jews together in Jerusalem (Hosea 3:4-5, Isaiah 2:4, Isaiah 11:6-9). Once that happens we will have a sign that he is here -- BUT it appears that the Rex Mundi will do this first (Matthew 24:15-20)!
Verse 2: False prophecies and promises (like the Rapture) will abound. Don't be fooled. This includes the so-called "Sanctuary Message" of the Seventh Day Adventists which Y'shua specifically rejected (Matthew 24:26) and the Rapture in general (Matthew 24:27).
Y'shua is CLEAR:
Matthew 24:26 So if people say to you, `Listen! He's out in the desert!' don't go; or, `Look! He's hidden away in a secret room!' don't believe it.
27 For when the Son of Man does come, it will be like lightning that flashes out of the east and fills the sky to the western horizon.
28 Wherever there's a dead body, that's where you find the vultures.
We will know Y'shua is here as HaMoshiach when we see the vultures eating the dead at the Battle of Armageddon (Revelation 19:18).
Continuing now with II Thessalonians 2 Verse 3: The Great Apostasy: The apostasy and eventual "vomiting out" of the seventh and final Church period (Revelation 3:14-19). This apostate religion will become the foundation of Babylon the Great (a global false religion lead by the False Prophet from Rome). This Universal Religion will embrace the coming Global Dictator as the "Second Coming of Jesus."
This coming leader will "separate himself from Torah" or as the KJV has it, "that man of sin." The Greek has it as the man of Lawlessness. Torah is the ultimate Law and he will oppose it in every way.
Verse 4: This coming Rex Mundi (global potentate) will place himself above all religions, above all knowledge, and proclaim himself (and be accepted by the world as) Sovereign Authority. He will cause the Jerusalem Temple to be rebuilt, then he will enter the Holy Place and proclaim his divinity there.
Verse 5: We don't need "new revelation" etc. The Scriptures are clear on these matters if we simply ignore what the false teachers say and read the texts its all clear. Camping and his ilk "spiritualize" the texts to the point that they become meaningless. if they seem to support their heresies the "must" be taken literally. If not, they must be taken "spiritually." One can prove ANYTHING with this leeway!
Just read and accept what the prophets say.
Verse 6: The Hinderers: God's people, morality, decency, true religion, faith, biblical knowledge and wisdom... these things have been restraining the New Order of the Ages (Novus Ordo Seclorum) but those restraints are being systematically removed. Without them evil is becoming pervasive.
Verse 7: The "New World Order" that has been controlling the earth for many many years is hard at work to establish the global government of Rex Mundi. Once he arises their intentions will be made clear (although I don't see how anyone could still doubt the accuracy of the prophecies at this point -- they are being fulfilled right before our eyes!)
Verse 8: Remember the topic of this section: Be not deceived: Here is how Y'shua will return... He WILL NOT RETURN until the Apostasy happens (verse 3) and the Son of Perdition is revealed. This means there will be NO RAPTURE and NO SECOND COMING until AFTER the Antichrist takes the stage as global leader. The Apostasy is well under way. Paul flatly says this here.
Verse 9: Rex Mundi will have super-human powers (as will the False Prophet) and he will deceive most people. His powers will come from Heylel (Lucifer).
Verse 10: The world will embrace Rex Mundi and they will reject salvation.
Verse 11: Had there already been a Rapture this point would be moot. Rex Mundi and his False Prophet will be working wonders to deceive people. This implies that some will not be deceived and they be seeking to bring them into their evil fold.
The comment that God will send this delusion needs to be understood in a Jewish context. God controls everything. Heylel is NOT God's opposite. HaShem has no opposite. Since these people choose to reject the Truth God will allow them to accept the lie and allow Heylel to deceive them even as He allowed him to deceived Adam and Eve. It is however by their own free will that they are being deceived.
The final seven years of this age will be the most horrific in history.
You PROBABLY will not survive -- deal with it!
The Rapture theory offers a false hope. We need to understood the Truth and to mentally prepare for what's coming: (Philippians 1:21: For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain).

No "The Donald..." The Republicans are dead in the water thus far

"The Donald" is not running for the 2012 top spot.

Many people were concerned about his hard-nosed business mindset but were optimistic about his seeming ability to stand up to pressure. That would be an essential ability were someone to seriously attempt to restore the US Constitutional government. He might have restored the Republic... We'll never know.

As for now the Republican wing of the one party that rules the former US republic seems rudderless. Globalist traitors remain firmly in control of the once "grand" party and appear content with another four years of Sheik Obama's illegal junta. The Tea Party has sold out their alleged values and potential and, as an organized movement, have become little more than Republican Party sycophants.

Donald Trump announced Monday that he will not be a 2012 presidential candidate.

The real estate mogul noted in a statement that he has been unofficially campaigning for the past several months, but has determined politics is not his first priority. "Business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector," Trump said.

Trump made clear he's not bowing out because of his perceived tough odds in the GOP primary or otherwise, saying: "I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election."

This is a slideshow of the deceived.

We should pray for both the deceived and the deceivers. Understand that these are generally sincere people who truly believe they are obeying God's call. How miserable they will be on May 22, 2011. May God comfort them as they mourn and deal with their soon to come embarrassment and humiliation.

Pray that the deceived do not lose all faith in God as a result of this false prophet. May they turn their eyes to HaShem alone and not rely on Nicolaitan deceit.

Pray that the deceived who contemplate suicide when Camping's prophecy fails are comforted and turned from that course by loving family and friends.

Friend, many Millerites, Seventh Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses and others have been deceived by similar false prophecies and have gone on to live happy lives. So can you! The failure of this prophecy is no cause for suicide nor to doubt God's love for you.

When this prophecy fails (or before) I invite you to contact me if you need someone to talk with who will not judge you and who understands. You are not the first good person to be deceived, nor will you be the last. Keep moving forward!

Pray that those who mock these deceived people do not assume the real prophecies will not be fulfilled as the Bible teaches and thereby further harden their hearts. God is real and HIS prophecies never fail.

And most of all, be prepared for the coming of the global dictatorship that is dawning! Having done all you can to stand...

On April 14, knowing that it was very likely there would be a vote to create a Palestinian State in the fall at the United Nations, we launched a "Stop Order Campaign" against this insidious notion. We issued it as "Joshua Call" and sent it out as a top priority action alert."

We stated : "As Americans we must insist that the President of the United States forthwith and unequivocally reject any proposal, put forth by the United Nations, or any other party, supported by the world community that would now establish a Palestinian state with Hamas having influence in Palestinian affairs, and/or in forming a new unified entity to represent the Palestinian people in the future."

We then requested people to call members of Congress and the media (flood their switchboards) to bring down Mr. Obama's wall of silence on this matter. We did this because tomorrow was already one day too late for the leader of the free world, when there is talk about the creation of an Islamic terrorist state in the heart of Jerusalem.

A point of reference: At that time we had no inkling that an agreement between Hamas and Fatah was in the making. Incredibly the Obama Administration would have the audacity to have Americans believe that his administration did not know either.

Yet we never heard back from the president on this matter until May 4th, some 21 days later when White House press secretary Jay Carney responded to this question towards the end of a press briefing about the death of Osama Bin Laden.

QUESTION: "Regarding a historical agreement between Hamas and Fatah today, Prime Minister Netanyahu called this a blow - a blow to peace and great victory for terrorism. "What's the President's view on this statement? Do you agree with Netanyahu?"

MR. CARNEY: "We understand that Fatah and Hamas have reached a reconciliation agreement. What is important now is that Palestinians ensure implementation of that agreement that its implementation advances the prospects of peace, rather than undermines those prospects. We're continuing to seek details, more information about the nature of the agreement, and we're consulting with the parties about these very issues. And I refer you to the Palestinians for details on the agreement because we're seeking them ourselves."

How is it possible that no one in the media to this very day has no comment as to why Jay Carney avoided answering if Obama agrees with Netanyahu? Even more news worthy, was the significance of Jay Carney's response, that the president was giving consideration to the legitimacy of such an unholy alliance.

How is it possible that the president of the United States and leader of the free world would not hesitate to say that he stands with Netanyahu and Israel against Hamas, a terrorist organization, especially any agreements that are made between them and Fatah that would lead to the formation of a Palestinian state, that allows Hamas to set up shop in Jerusalem and the West Bank.

As leader of the free world Mr. Obama must not hesitate to unequivocally reject and condemn any proposal that sanctions the insidious notion that terrorist/fascist and Israel are equal partners for peace.

The president stood with Egypt against a tyrant. Is Netanyahu a tyrant, or a terrorist? And Hamas the good guys? Former President Bush in declaring war on terrorism, said to the terrorists "we will find you, we will not rest until we hunt you down." President Obama, if you agree with him, why are you hunting Israel and not Hamas?

Thus while Americans were praising the chutzpah and wisdom that the president displayed in disposing of Bin Laden, and rightfully so, unbeknownst to us Mr. Obama was tightening the noose around Netanyahu's neck behind our backs.

Sir, you are a Harvard graduate, I'm sure there is no part of this statement that you do not understand: "Fascism is the ultimate expression of absolute power, deception and the absence of accountability are its greatest allies. Since lies are the tools that fascists use to complete their circuitry of deceit, any statements issued by the leaders of these governments or their supporters can never be believed or validated." Then how is it possible sir that Israel, the house that King David built, is being coerced by you to make agreements with terrorist-infected nations and people based on promises signed on worthless pieces of paper.

President Obama, remove your noose from Netanyahu's neck the culprit is Hamas!!!. Where do you get the audacity to ask the people of the United States of America in all good conscience to support you, when because of your actions, "We The People" will be known throughout history as people who gave equal consideration to a terrorist group that has vowed the destruction of Israel.

Americans it is time to put to rest the insidious notion put forth by Obama and Mahmoud Abbas, and embraced by the Islamic conflict community, the UN, and the world at large. The notion that the Palestinian Arab/Israeli conflict is the cause for the tensions between the Islamic world and the United States - not the Islamic world's addiction to religious tyrannies' hateful edicts. This misconception has spawned the out-of-control idea that a UN resolution will bring reconciliation between our nations resulting in a peaceful co-existence and economic security for America and her allies. Nothing can be further from the truth. Such a resolution can only lead to the destruction of Israel.

President Obama, Israel can no longer be sabotaged by your proposals cloaked in the name of peace and hope to survive. We mentioned in "Obama's Solution - Amputation and More Amputation to the Body of Israel" that for years, our Jewish pundits have been analyzing and suggesting solutions to every event that chronicles the obvious injustice Israel faces, but to what avail? It's now 2011, and President Obama's solution to the Palestinian Arab/Israeli dispute - amputation and more amputation to the body of Israel - thus bringing about her ultimate death. Instead of submitting ourselves as a hapless victim to his knife, the Jewish people must take a proactive stance. We need to unite as one and take up the call for an immediate end to his negotiations with people who have become nothing more than foot soldiers in Iran's global terrorists enterprise. Whether it is Hamas, or Fatah, whether you label them religious terrorists or secular moderates, the DNA of hate and the destruction of Israel is the glue that binds these political parties to a common objective. Their determination is to create another terrorist Islamic state with "East Jerusalem" as its capital.

The time has come for demands, not requests, put down your pens and let your voice become your sword. In 2007 when President Bush and Senators Mc Cain (Republican) and Kennedy (Democratic) were eager to pass the "Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2007." Americans on both the left and right hated the bill...So they "melted the phone lines" till Washington, Congress and the White house got the message and the bill was not passed. The American people let their will be known, and Congress listened. We have learned this lesson over and over in the history of our country when men like Martin Luther King, Jr., a registered Republican, stood up against all odds and changed the status quo and now it is our turn to step up to the plate.

To the honorable Senator Gillibrand, a Democrat and others of her ilk from both sides of the aisle, unfortunately you have proven time and time again that sincere petitions and letters begging for understanding regarding the dangerous position this administration is putting Israel in falls on deaf ears. Senator Gillibrand, I regret to inform you, Obama has no intention of addressing your concerns. The proof is in the pudding, look what happened on February 18th when your written request for a veto in the UN was never answered.

To all members of Congress, no matter what bills you pass to stop Hamas, to defund it, no matter what resolutions you pass it will be in vain. It is only the leader of the free world who has the power and influence to put an end to this debacle.

America, what Israel and Netanyahu needs from us is citizens who, regardless of their affiliation, are willing to stand up for Israel. This is a crisis that each one of us cannot afford to ignore, because this insidious UN initiative and others like it breach the line that must be secured to protect the nation of Israel and the free world . . . what Netanyahu needs from AIPAC, the Federation, ZOA, the Tea Party, Glenn Beck, Pastor Hagee and all patriots is for them to throw down the gauntlet, and declare "President Obama stand up for Israel, stand up for freedom, stand against Hamas, or we can no longer in good conscience follow your lead.

Then, and only then will we see the results that are needed to put a Stop Order on this UN campaign and all other political initiatives like it that could only lead to the destruction of Israel and America's descent into obscurity and hell.

If we do not stand and raise our voices now, it will soon be too late. They have a demonic strategy birthed in hell by Satan to divide the city of Jerusalem. You and I have come into the kingdom for such a time as this just as ancient Esther did in the Old Testament. The cry of David is echoing throughout eternity, "Is there not a cause?"

The Save Jerusalem special is airing across the U.S. This is a huge step of faith. The only way we can keep the U.S. from recognizing an Islamic capital in East Jerusalem is by mobilizing millions of Americans to pray and to stand up and speak out. A computer document expert who analyzed the online image of Barack Obama's purported Certificate of Live Birth for WND confirmed there are anomalies inconsistent with a simple scanning process, and there is evidence it has been manipulated, but there's no way to determine exactly what may have been modified.

The end result is that while it is known there were changes, the full extent of operations that were done to the image cannot be determined at this point.

The White House last week trumpeted the release of the above document, calling it "proof positive" Obama was born in Hawaii, as if that would answer all of the questions about his presidential eligibility. In fact, those who contend the founders of the country excluded dual citizens from qualifying as a "natural born Citizen," as the Constitution requires presidents to be, say the document actually proves Obama's ineligibility.

It verifies that Barack Obama Sr. was listed as the father, but he never was a U.S. citizen.

I recently received a question about the prophecy portions of the Seeker level lessons at our Yeshiva Beth HaShem (our free authentic Messianic Jewish school). It is generally accurate to assume that if one person has such a question and asks it, others may be wondering as well and not ask. So I wanted to share these points:

Authentic Messianic Judaism is in no way a "doomesday cult" (nor a cult of any other kind).

As the prophecy lessons begin by stating, there are legitimate differences of opinion on these topics and all talmidim (students) are encouraged to determine what they believe based on their own biblical research regarding them. At the same time, Yeshiva Beth HaShem would be remiss not to cover these important topics according to our understandings in our lessons.
We do take the prophecies seriously.

A few points:
No one knows "the day nor the hour" however we are taught by Rebbe Y'shua that those who are paying attention will know the "watch" or "season" in which the Kingdom will be established (Matthew 24:43, I Thessalonians 5). This watch or season is based biblically on the restoration of Zion (Daniel 4, Matthew 24:32: hence either 1948 or 1967: when Israel was re-established or when Jerusalem was re-acquired by Israel).

Many folks are concerned about Harold Camping's soon to fail prophecy (this is what prompted the question -- see my short video on the topic: http://youtu.be/w7so2K2LmI8 ).

Camping's calculations are completely flawed because his dates for the flood are wrong biblically (Biblical date: 1611 HH or 2150 BCE: Genesis 7,8), because there is no biblical correlation between the dates of the global flood and the establishment of the Kingdom, and because the Rapture and Predestination are false doctrines not supported by accurate biblical teaching, and because the Bible does not teach that only 200 million people will be "saved."

May 21 and October 21 will be non-events like Y2K and like Camping's other two failed end of the world prophecies (for 1988 and 1994).

Our job as rabbis is to share our understandings of authentic doctrine. The prophecies are a necessary part of this sharing.

I hope this clarifies these concerns.

Superman Renounces U.S. Citizenship in 'Action Comics' #900

After recently undertaking a journey to walk -- not fly -- across the United States in the "Grounded" storyline and reconnect with the country and everyday Americans, Superman appears to be taking another step that could have major implications for his national identity: in Action Comics #900...

...Superman announces that he is going to give up his U.S. citizenship. Despite very literally being an alien immigrant, Superman has long been seen as a patriotic symbol of "truth, justice, and the American way," from his embrace of traditional American ideals to the iconic red and blue of his costume. What it means to stand for the "American way" is an increasingly complicated thing, however, both in the real world and in superhero comics, whose storylines have increasingly seemed to mirror current events and deal with moral and political complexities rather than simple black and white morality.

The key scene takes place in "The Incident," a short story in Action Comics #900 written by David S. Goyer with art by Miguel Sepulveda. In it, Superman consults with the President's national security advisor, who is incensed that Superman appeared in Tehran to non-violently support the protesters demonstrating against the Iranian regime, no doubt an analogue for the recent real-life protests in the Middle East. However, since Superman is viewed as an American icon in the DC Universe as well as our own, the Iranian government has construed his actions as the will of the American President, and indeed, an act of war.

Superman replies that it was foolish to think that his actions would not reflect politically on the American government, and that he therefore plans to renounce his American citizenship at the United Nations the next day -- and to continue working as a superhero from a more global than national perspective. From a "realistic" standpoint it makes sense; it would indeed be impossible for a nigh-omnipotent being ideologically aligned with America to intercede against injustice beyond American borders without creating enormous political fallout for the U.S. government.

While this wouldn't be this first time a profoundly American comic book icon disassociated himself from his national identity -- remember when Captain America became Nomad? -- this could be a very significant turning point for Superman if its implications carry over into other storylines. Indeed, simply saying that "truth, justice and the American way [is] not enough anymore" is a pretty startling statement from the one man who has always represented those values the most.

It doesn't seem that he's abandoning those values, however, only trying to implement them on a larger scale and divorce himself from the political complexities of nationalism. Superman also says that he believes he has been thinking "too small," that the world is "too connected" for him to limit himself with a purely national identity. As an alien born on another planet, after all, he "can't help but see the bigger picture."

Do you think the shift to a more global role makes sense for Superman? If he really is going to renounce his U.S. citizenship in order to function as a more international figure, how do you think it will affect the character?
