UN About To Outlaw Criticism of Islam!

MONDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2009 E-mail Alert From the VERY reputable American Center for Law and Justice: https://www.aclj.org

Speaking out against Islam could put YOU in jeopardy.

Sounds ridiculous, but it's true.

The United Nations (U.N.) is currently considering a ''Defamation of Religions'' resolution being pushed by the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the largest group of nations within the U.N. Media Player Image

View my special video report now!

The resolution would criminalize the proclamation of the Gospel worldwide - an issue with such international ramifications, we've responded with force.

We're sending legal teams to our New York City office, which is just down the street from the U.N., in order to speak out - and loudly - against this very anti-Christian move.

And you can be part of that response!

* Watch my urgent video report immediately, and then
* Sign our online PETITION TO PROTECT RELIGIOUS FREEDOM to the U.N. saying NO to this attack on faith and freedom!

We cannot let Christianity and evangelism be criminalized - not now, not ever. The ACLJ is doing everything we can to protect you, your family, and your rights.

Thanks for staying informed and involved. Visit us online at www.aclj.org and be sure to tune in to Jay Sekulow Live! and ACLJ This Week for further updates on this and other key issues and cases.

The New "Twilight Zone" -- Obama Declares Swine Flu Emergency
Posted by: Dr. Mercola
October 27 2009

According to this video the following is a hoax.

SOURCE:

President Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency on Friday October 23, empowering the health secretary to suspend federal requirements and speed up treatment.

His declaration authorizes Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to bypass normal federal regulations so health officials can respond more quickly to the outbreak, which, allegedly, has killed more than 1,000 people in the United States.

"As a nation, we have prepared at all levels of government, and as individuals and communities, taking unprecedented steps to counter the emerging pandemic," Obama wrote in the declaration, which the White House announced Saturday.

He said the pandemic keeps evolving, the rates of illness are rising rapidly in many areas and there's a potential "to overburden health care resources."

Because of vaccine production delays, the government has backed off initial estimates that 120 million doses would be available by mid-October. As of mid-October, only 11 million doses had been shipped to health departments, doctor's offices and other providers, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials said.

The government now estimates to have about 50 million doses of swine flu vaccine out by mid-November and 150 million in December.

Farewell Geocities: Yahoo Destroys Yet Another Great Service.

It was expected but once again Yahoo has destroyed another on-line community.

Geocities is where I seriously got my start on line in 1996 (I started with AOL's customer websites but left for Geocities after a couple of months). I opened AllFaith.com in 1997 but kept my original site going even after Yahoo destroyed it with their draconian bandwidth caps and so on.

Fun times... I was a volunteer in the Athens Community Neighborhood (before Yahooo did away with the neighborhood concept that made geocities so cool) and my Conversations in Religions feature was pretty popular. But alas...my "Roam'n Church" will roam no more...

Once Yahoo touches ANYTHING it is destined to destruction.
They are now working hard to destroy their mail program...

Yahoo has destroyed 20 on-line communities this year alone!

This is from WebPro news:

Yahoo Shuts Down Property with 10m Unique Monthly Visitors

Yahoo has officially shut down Geocities. The company has said that it did not count the property among its priorities, so it is simply getting rid of it. Yahoo has shut down about 20 services in less than a year.

We learned that Yahoo would be closing the door on GeoCities back in April, so users have had plenty of time to migrate to other services. Earlier this year, for example, MSN partnered with WetPaint to allow people to create "fansites". After Yahoo's announcement, Wetpaint took the opportunity to announce a " bailout plan for foreclosed GeoCities properties," which it called the "GeoCities Asset Recovery Plan (GARP)."As it shuts down GeoCities, Yahoo itself is now plugging its own $4.99-a-month Web hosting service.

Yahoo GeoCities Ok, so there are other options for GeoCities users, but is just shutting down a community that still attracts so much traffic the right thing to do? Yahoo's way of going about it has been widely questioned. According to Compete data, GeoCities has still been seeing over 10 million unique monthly visitors as recently as last month. Why would Yahoo want to just shut that down?

"Then there's the fact that Google, not Yahoo, appears to be responsible for the lion's share of GeoCities referrals, sending about 31.45 percent of the site's traffic its way," noted Doug Caverly upon Yahoo's original announcement. "Yahoo's only behind of 16.89 percent of all GeoCities visits. So by closing GeoCities, for which it paid $3.6 billion in 1999, Yahoo seems to be turning its back on a large amount of traffic. Moreover, it's turning down free traffic from its biggest competitor."

"Carol Bartz may be trying to get Yahoo's costs under control, but it looks like sticking a 'for sale' sign on GeoCities would be at least one preferable option compared to a closure," he added.

But alas, it looks like the sign reads "closed" rather than "for sale." So say goodbye, and in the words of Richard Marxx, "hold on to the memory."

It seems unwise from a business perspective, but what about the users? Does Yahoo have an obligation to its users who may have spent years using their GeoCities site only to have it pulled from the web? Should Yahoo provide a forwarding web address for GeoCities users? After all, it was the GeoCities users that built their sites, promoted them and put up with sometimes annoying ads. A simple forwarding of their GeoCities url to their new home would be appreciated! Do you agree?

MySpace isn't exactly at the peak of its popularity, but there are still tons of people who use it. What if they just pulled everything? What if Google bought Facebook and decided to kill it? What if your Tweets vanished? Sure these things seem unlikely now because these services are still fresh. Well, GeoCities was once the "it" thing too. Granted, most GeoCities sites I have seen are not much to look at now, but that doesn't mean people aren't getting use out of them. They're obviously getting page views.

Here's what Yahoo is telling GeoCities users to do if they want to keep their sites:

On October 26, 2009, your GeoCities site will no longer appear on the Web, and you will no longer be able to access your GeoCities account and files. If you'd like to keep your web site, you'll need to move your site files to another web hosting provider.

We recommend moving to our award-winning Web Hosting service, which works a lot like GeoCities but includes a personalized domain name (such as widgetdesigns.com) and matching email, terrific new site building tools, unlimited disk space and bandwidth, premium customer support, and more.

Perhaps it's not worth it to users to go throgh the hassle of migration, but it has been nice to have their GeoCities site at least remain in tact. Well, tough luck. I hope you've gotten what you wanted away from it before Yahoo obliterates it. There are some sites out there

What do you think of Yahoo's decision to simply shut down GeoCities? Discuss here.
that have not yet been shut down, but it appears that is only a matter of time.

Obama declares swine flu a national emergency

Sat Oct 24, 2009 3:39pm EDT
* Disaster proclamation intended as proactive measure

* CDC said swine flu widespread in 46 of 50 states (Adds details on new antiviral drug)

By Patricia Zengerle

WASHINGTON, Oct 24 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama has declared 2009 H1N1 swine flu a national emergency, the White House said on Saturday.

The declaration will make it easier for U.S. medical facilities to handle a surge in flu patients by allowing the waiver of some requirements of Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health insurance programs as needed, the White House said in a statement.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Friday that swine flu has become widespread in 46 of the 50 U.S. states, a level comparable to the peak of ordinary flu seasons but far earlier and with more waves of infection expected.

Obama signed the statement on Friday night.

The White House statement said the declaration was intended to prepare the country in case of "a rapid increase in illness that may overburden health care resources." It was similar to disaster declarations issued before hurricanes hit coastal areas.

"It's important to note that this is a proactive measure -- not a response to a new development," an administration official said.

"H1N1 is moving rapidly, as expected. By the time regions or healthcare systems recognize they are becoming overburdened, they need to implement disaster plans quickly," he said.

Seasonal flu normally peaks sometime between late November and early March and kills about 36,000 Americans in an average year.

Swine flu has hit young adults and children the hardest, while seasonal flu normally is more dangerous for people over age 65.

H1N1, declared a public health emergency earlier in the year, has killed more than 1,000 people in the United States and put more than 20,000 in the hospital since it emerged earlier this year, the CDC said. But health officials are quick to note that the actual number of cases cannot be measured.

The new declaration clears the way for waivers of federal requirements that, for example, could prevent hospitals from establishing off-site, alternate care facilities that could help them deal with emergency department demands, the White House said.

The Health and Human Services Department is trying to deliver vaccines against H1N1 but says production is falling short of projections because companies are having trouble making them.

HHS has also moved to make available stockpiles of antiviral drugs oseltamivir, made by Roche AG (ROG.VX: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) under the brand name Tamiflu, and zanamivir, an in

Is Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty?

Is Obama Poised to Cede US Sovereignty?

From the Video Publisher:

On October 14, Lord Christopher Monckton gave a presentation in St. Paul, MN on the subject of global warming. In this 4-minute excerpt from his speech, he issues a dire warning to all Americans regarding the United Nations Climate Change Treaty that is scheduled to be signed in Copenhagen in December 2009.

A draft of the treaty can be read here:
http://www.globalclimatescam.com/docu...

Page 18: Section 38 of the "Share vision for long-term cooperation action plan" contains the text for forming the new government.

Page 40: Section 46 Subsection H of the "Objectives, scope, and guiding principles" contains the text for enforcement and establishment of the rule of law.

There has been considerable debate raised about Monckton's conclusion that the Copenhagen Treaty would cede US sovereignty. His comments appear to be based upon his interpretation of the The Supremacy Clause in the US Constitution (Article VI, paragraph 2). This clause establishes the Constitution, Federal Statutes, and U.S. TREATIES as the supreme law of the land. Concerns have been raised in the past that a particularly ambitious treaty may supersede the US Constitution. In the 1950s, a constitutional amendment, known as the Bricker Amendment, was proposed in response to such fears, but it failed to pass. You can read more about the Bricker Amendment in a 1953 Time Magazine article:
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/art...,9171,806676-1,00.html

Lord Monckton served as a policy adviser to Margaret Thatcher. He has repeatedly challenged Al Gore to a debate to which Gore has refused. Monckton sued to stop Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth" from being shown in British schools due to its inaccuracies. The judge found in-favor of Monckton, ordering 9 serious errors in the film to be corrected. Lord Monckton travels internationally in an attempt to educating the public about the myth of global warming.

What is a Noahide Nazarene?

This is a reply to a question I received via Facebook.
As always, I welcome questions and will happily reply.

Question: Tell me about Noahide, I know nothing of this!

Cannot go to site, PC down!

Blessings,

R

My reply:

Hi R,

There is way too much information about this to share in a single e-mail but here's the basics:

After the flood of Noah's time the One God gave seven laws to the human race and promised that all who obeyed these laws and maintained faith in the One God would be accepted by Him. These are the Seven Laws of Noah (the Noahide Laws of the Rainbow Covenant):

The Noahide Laws: http://allfaith.com/Religions/Noahide/laws.html

1. Worship Only HaShem
2. Honor and Praise HaShem
3. Respect and Protect Human Life
4. Respect the Family
5. Respect the Rights and Properties of Others
6. Respect the Sanctity of all Life
7. Pursue Justice

Noahides are people accept these Laws.

The Noahide Laws Extrapolated

Based on these, Noahide Nazarenes understand the following:

1. Worship Only HaShem: Do not worship anyone or anything except HaShem Himself. This prohibits the worship of prophets, angels, saints and so on. While due honor may be shown to others, only HaShem is to be worshiped.
2. Honor and Praise HaShem: Do not curse Him or anyone in His name. Praise and Credit His Goodness in all things. Do not undertake vows. Use the Sacred Name always with respect. Do not evoke non-specific terms such as "Lord" of "God" to the exclusion of the Holy Name because HaShem is an individual Being and is like none other.
3. Respect and Protect Human Life: Do not commit murder, suicide, euthanasia or abortion. This also prohibits all stem cell and similar researches if such research utilizes the death of human beings (including infanticide). Rightly view humankind as the representatives of HaShem and respect them accordingly. Noahide Nazarenes are not required to be pacifists, however we are forbidden to "murder." To protect an innocent life the taking of the life of a wrongdoer may at times be required. Such an act is not "murder." Likewise, defending ones country in times of attack is acceptable, going to war for unjust causes is not. For instance, killing for oil reserves is murder, killing to defend Israel or ones homeland and allies is not. Serving positions that support unjust wars is to share in the guilt for those wars. Hence, one who is morally opposed to fighting in a conflict would be morally opposed to supporting in all other ways. In all such cases, the Noahide must determine when violence is and is not appropriate and act accordingly.
4. Respect the Family: Do not engage in sexual immorality. Defend family integrity and avoid divorce, incest, bigamy, abortion (infanticide), etc. Teach children HaShem's ways as these are their birthrights as members of the human family; teach them their family histories as these are their birthrights in their biological family. Because of the current debates, it should be noted that nowhere does HaShem nor the Bible condemn same-gender marriages, hence this law does not prohibit such. Upon such relationships are incumbent the same requirements placed upon any other (for information on this topic visit my Grace Inclusive web site).
5. Respect the Rights and Properties of Others: Do not steal, cheat, or kidnap. Share the goodness of the earth with others.
6. Respect the Sanctity of all Life: Do not eat the flesh of any animal while it is still alive. Defend the well-being of the Earth and its inhabitants. Do not torture nor abuse animals. While not mandatory, vegetarianism is a blessing to body, soul and to the Earth. For more on this see my study: http://allfaith.com/Religions/Noahide/meat.html
7. Pursue Justice: Establish courts of law to enforce the Seven Noahide Commandments and to enforce just laws.

Many years later HaShem (i.e. "the Name" i.e Yahweh -- the One God) established a special, eternal, separate relationship with the Hebrews (i.e. the Israelites, the Jews) and chose them as His Elect, the Chosen People through whom the One God will eventually establish His Kingdom through Moshiach (Messiah). For more on this see my commentary on the Book of Revelation: http://allfaith.com/prophecy/rev.html

ONLY Jews are under the Laws of Moses, Gentiles (including Noahides) are not (the Seven Noahide Laws are included in the Laws of Moses for the Jews as well). Noahides who live with Jews must honor certain sections of the Law.

The Sabbath commandment is for all people at all times (Gen 2:3)

Later came the various prophets and then...

-- Y'shua of Nazareth: Y'shua ben Miriam: "Jesus" son of Mary

The Jews did not accept Y'shua for a few different reasons according to the New Testament. Chief among these was his rejection of the Oral Torah and his insistence that Jews could find communion with God without going through the Scribes, Pharisees and other religious leaders.

The majority of people who self-identify as Noahides likewise do not accept Y'shua. There are many reasons for this. Mainly its because of the Nicean Church's presentation of him and as solidarity with the Jews.

Noahide Nazarenes, which is a term I coined in the 1980's, differ with other Noahides in that we accept Y'shua as a great prophet and as our spiritual master, teacher and guide (technically the term rabbi is not correct because Y'shua does not teach the Oral Torah). In the Greek texts the term didaskalos or master/teacher is used of him.

As I discuss in some detail on my website, following the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 CE the Way (the Jewish sect that arose around the Master's teachings and in time welcomed Noahides and other Gentiles as he instructed (Matt 28:19,20) was fundamentally altered by Roman Pagans. Various men now regarded as "Church Fathers" began compromising with the Roman Pagans and embracing many of their doctrines. They did this in part to end the persecutions (a noble goal), but in larger part because they wanted to establish a one world religion ("catholic" of course means universal). All major Protestant denominations maintained the majority of these compromised dogmas.

These men led the Way to abandoning the observance of Shabbat (the Sabbath) and exchanged it for the holy day of their god, Sol Invictus: Sun day. They outlawed the Jewish roots of the Way and termed it "Judaizing." This move to replace the Way with a Universal Church was described by Master Y'shua and his Apostle John as the Nicolaitan heresy. I discuss this heresy in chapters two and three of my commentary on the Book of Revelation: http://allfaith.com/prophecy/rev.html. The Nicolaitane heresy was eventually codified as Church dogma by counsels like the ones at Nicea.

There is no organized church or body representing Noahide Nazarenes.
There are a few competing bodies trying to organize the Noahide movement but with very little success.

As a Noahide Nazarene I look into the Bible and histories seeking to determine what our Master actually taught and believed.

Many of my findings are posted at my http://allfaith.com/Religions/Noahide website once your pc is back up.

These are in all cases my beliefs and do not necessarily reflect those of anyone else, however they are the result of my 40 year thus far quest for truth and I am convinced they are accurate. When your computer is back up you may find these writings of interest.

I will be happy to discuss any topics you wish.

Errors and Contradictions in the Bible? An Answer to Muslim Missionaries

The Earth belongs to HaShem
"The Earth Belongs to HaShem and the Fullness Thereof."

Scientific Errors and Contradictions in the Bible?
An Answer to Muslim Missionaries

By Ben Ruach HaKodesh (John of AllFaith) 10.05.09

If you haven't received those Muslim Missionary e-mails claiming that "I have came across many scientific errors and contradictions in the Bible" its probably just a matter of time until you do!

Since this list of supposed errors seems to be proliferating I thought it might worth addressing its points. There are a few versions of this one around. Rather than post one of them, I'll just address the accusations:

Charge: Proverbs 6:6-8 says ants have no commander, no ruler and no overseer! This is absurdly false, because ants live in colonies and ranks of rulership and authority. And they have a queen.

Proverbs 6:6-8 is not a scientific treatise on ants (gazelles etc). It is an illustration of a point. Such metaphors are never intended to be dissected. One might say for instance, "Its as hot as Death valley today!" or "Its as cold as the North Pole!" That means its very hot or very cold, not that its 125 degrees plus or minus or whatever the present temperature of those places might be.

Read the context of these verses and it will be clear what is being said:

Proverbs 6:1 My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor,
if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger;
6:2 You are trapped by the words of your mouth.
You are ensnared with the words of your mouth....
6:6 Go to the ant, you sluggard.
Consider her ways, and be wise;
6:7 which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,
6:8 provides her bread in the summer,
and gathers her food in the harvest.
6:9 How long will you sleep, sluggard?
When will you arise out of your sleep?

In other words, don't be like the ant that mindlessly acts (of course they do not 'mindless act' as such, they have a hierarchy etc. HOWEVER each ant in the hierarchy from the highest to the lowest acts according to instinct, so there is no "chief, Overseer, or ruler" over them. They all act according to instinct rather than rational thought. So even then, the metaphor is correct.

Charge: Leviticus 11:20-23 - "All flying insects that walk on all fours are to be detestable to you." No insect with four legs exists. Insects have six legs and six feet.

Again, a figure of speech. Kosher laws forbid eating those ground based insects It doesn't mean they have four feet, only that they walk on the ground (as do four-footed mammals).

Charge: Matthew 13:31-32 "He (Jesus) told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all your seeds," The mustard seed is not the smallest of all seeds. Others, such as the orchid seed, are smaller.

Again, the Master was not giving a botany lesson. His point was that even a little faith is a powerful thing. He was not teaching a science class. We also are not given a description of what was going on during this discussion. He may well have been holding a seed in his hand and saying, "Even this tiny amount of faith..." Such points are just nit-picky and silly.

Charge: Leviticus 12:2-5, a female causes double the pollution when she's born than that of a boy. The mother remains unclean for 66 days after birth of a female instead of 33 days if she gives birth to a male.

This verse is part of the Law of Moses intended to guide the Hebrews.

First, there is nothing here about females causing double the pollution. This is taquiya (intentional deceit and misdirection). It says:

12:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 12:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'If a woman conceives, and bears a male child, then she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her monthly period she shall be unclean.
12:3 In the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.
12:4 She shall continue in the blood of purification thirty-three days. She shall not touch any holy thing, nor come into the sanctuary, until the days of her purifying are completed.
12:5 But if she bears a female child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her period; and she shall continue in the blood of purification sixty-six days.

So then... If she has a boy:

SHE is ritually unclean for 7 days, on the 8th day he is to be circumcised.
SHE continues with her ritual of purification for another 33 days.

IF she has a girl:

SHE is ritually unclean for 14 days -- note that there is no "female circumcision" (a most barbaric mutilation practiced by Muslims still today) -- and she continues her ritual of purification for another 66 days.

So, the charge is incorrect on its face: The new mother does not cause "double the pollution" (there is no pollution even mentioned) she merely has a longer period of self-purification and recovery than if she had given birth to a boy.

This reflects common views at the time. Right or wrong most ancient cultures gave preference to males. Partly because they were seen as more useful as field hands, warriors, heads of families, etc. Partly because it was believed that sons carried on their father's name in ways daughters (who joined with the houses of their husbands) did not. One can not fairly judge ancient cultures by modern standards.

These reasons, as well as the circumcision of the boy as an offering to God, were probably considerations for these ancient people, but more importantly this was a direct command of HaShem, not a human calculation. If God wishes to set such conditions on His creation that is His right as Creator and Lord. Like most ancient texts, the Bible does makes distinctions based on gender that modern people in the West find difficult to accept based on current views.

Compared to Islam however, where a woman can be legally (under Sharia) raped or murdered for simply going outside alone, for looking at a man not her relative, for allowing her arms to be seen (let alone her more "private parts" ... like knees), or being seen without her hijab... women had far more freedom, protection and respect 4000 years ago under the Laws of Moses than they do today under Sharia! And this is system the Ummah of Islam is attempting to establish globally today. This is the goal of such groundless attacks on the Bible.

Under the guidelines of the New Testament we are told that in God's eyes there is neither male nor female (Gal 3:28) for those who love God.

Then there are the alleged:

Textual and Historical Contradictions

Charge: 2 Samuel 10:18 - David slew 700 and 40,000 horsemen and Shobach the commander.

    1 Chronicles 19:18 - David slew 7000 chariots and 40,000 footmen.

These are just two different forms of reckonings:

II Sam. 10:18 And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.

I Chron. 19:18 But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in chariots, and forty thousand footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.

II Sam. says he slew the "men of 700 chariots..."
I Chron. says "7000 men who fought in the chariots"

This is not a contradiction. If there were 7000 men assigned to the chariots there would be around 700 leaders or officers of the chariots (around 10%). Likewise such soldiers would be referred to as horsemen or footmen interchangeably when referring to the force as a whole.

Charge: 2 Chronicles 9:25 - Solomon had 4000 stalls for horses and chariots.
1 Kings 4:26 - Solomon had 40,000 stalls for horses.

These are two different time periods. At one time I owned two cars and a motor cycle, today I only own a pick up truck.

Not a contradiction.

Charge: Ezra 2:5 - Arah had 775 sons.
    Nehemiah 7:10 - Arah had 652 sons.
Ezra 2:1 Now these are the children of the province that went up out of the captivity...

Nehemiah 7:5 ....And I found a register of the genealogy of them which came up at the first, and found written therein...

The registry or ledger Nehemiah was working off of was inaccurate while Ezra gives us the correct listing. Why would this be? There are lots of possible reasons. Names were spelled differently, people had dual alliances, people had been added or lost between the writing of the registry and the giving of the numbers to Ezra... etc.

The registry Nehemiah was working from was of human calculations, while Ezra received his knowledge from God.

And both lists agree that the total number was 42,360.

Again, not a contradiction.

Charge: 2 Samuel 24:13 - SEVEN YEARS OF FAMINE.
1 Chronicles 21:11-12 - THREE YEARS OF FAMINE.

In context these are referring to two different things.

The seven years came and were followed by an additional three years:

II Samuel 21:1 Then there was a famine in the days of David three years, year after year; and David inquired of the LORD. And the LORD answered, It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he slew the Gibeonites.

Again, not a contradiction.

Charge: How did Judas die?
Matthew 27:5 - Hanged himself.
Acts 1:18 - And falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all of his bowels gushed out.

There is no contradiction here either.

He hung himself, his body went limp, he slipped out of the noose (or perhaps was cut down by a Roman guard) and fell to the ground below.

Charge: 2 Samuel 6:23 - MICHAL never had a child until she died.
2 Samuel 21:8 - MICHAL had 5 sons.

Once again, there is no contradiction if one merely reads the texts:

II Sam 6:23 Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

21: 8 ... and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she brought up for Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite...:

"... whom she brought up for Adriel..."

She raised them as her own but she herself had no kids. I have two sons but only one is my biological son.

No contradiction.

Charge: 2 Kings 24:8 - Jehoiachin was 18 years old when he began to reign.
2 Chronicles 36:9 - Jehoiachin was 8 years old when he began to reign.

Jehoiachin reigned with his father Jehoiakim for ten years.

Jehoiakim began his reign when he was 25 years old and reigned for 11 years. He was 17 when his son Jehoiachin was born.

Beginning in the second year of Jehoiakim's reign he had his son Jehoiachin ruling with him (hence at age 8).

Jehoiachin reigned with his father for 10 years and then, beginning at age 18, he ruled alone. Father and son co-reigns are not without biblical precedent, for instance David and Solomon.

Again, no contradiction.

Charge: 1 Kings 16:6-8 - 26th year of the reign of Asa, Baasha reigned over Israel.
2 Chronicles 16:1 - 36th year of the reign of Asa, Baasha reigned over Israel.

Neither says what charge alleges:

...In the twenty-sixth year of Asa king of Judah began Elah the son of Baasha to reign over Israel

The son of Baasha reigned.

In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel went up against Judah, and built Ramah...

Doesn't say he began his reign then.

No contradiction.

    Charge: Who was Josiah's successor?
    Jehoahaz - 2 Chronicle 36:1
    Shallum - Jeremiah 22:11

They were the same person:

I Chron. 3:15 The sons of Josiah: the firstborn Johanan, the second Jehoiakim, the third Zedekiah, the fourth Shallum.

Many people in the Bible have more than one name. Abram: Abraham, Jacob: Israel, Daniel: Belteshazzar and so on.

These e-mails usually end with a few verses such as:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless.... (2 Samuel 22:31)

And the words of the LORD are flawless.... (Psalm 12:6)

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless.... (Psalm 18:30)

Every word of God is flawless.... (Proverbs 30:5)

And then add a little barb like this:

These True Statements undoubtedly prove that the Bible is corrupt!

What is ur view... ready to embrace Islam the Only True Religion?

"My view" is that you have not presented a single contradiction here. You have merely indicated a lack of knowledge of God's inspired Word.

Islam is a false religion without ANY historic ties to the origins it claims. Al Qu'ran is plagiarized from the Bible and the Indian Vedas.

Christianity and Judaism have clear ties to Abraham and the books of the Tanach and New Testament have demonstratively verifiable ancient roots leading back to the histories and periods they discuss. Al Qu'ran has NO such evidential support. The opposite is the case.

As Jesus said: John 4:22 You worship that which you don't know. We worship that which we know; for salvation is from the Jews.

If you sincerely wish to worship the true God of Father Abraham reject Islam.

A Bit More On: Wu, Wuwie and Te

A Bit More On:
Wu, Wuwie and Te

Questioner: Yoo Yuong Chon
Private: no
Subject: Taoism (Follow-up)

For the original question go HERE at AllFaith.com

Or HERE at Multiply.

QUESTION: Hello. Thank you so much for the response. It really did help me to grasp the concept of Taoism a little bit better, although I do not completely get it. I suppose that seeing as how one of the main beliefs of Taoism is that one cannot completely understand without experiencing it, it is normal for me to always feel Taoism a bit beyond my grasp.

I had wanted to ask though also about what Taoists believe happen after death? In Buddhism, there is reincarnation, or, if one achieves it, Nirvana. For Christians, there is a Heaven. What exactly do the Taoists believe in?

Another thing I was hoping you could help me clarify is the concept of Wuwei. You definitely covered the big points and I'm understand it a bitter beter. However, do you think maybe you could give me a more in-depth analysis and maybe an example to help illustrate it?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and answer these questions. It's really helpful!

My reply:

Hi again,

....although I do not completely get it. I suppose that seeing as how one of the main beliefs of Taoism is that one cannot completely understand without experiencing it, it is normal for me to always feel Taoism a bit beyond my grasp.

Absolutely and a good realization on your part. 'The tao that can be named is the real Tao...'

Even the name tao is not Tao:
One

The Tao that can be told is not the eternal Tao.
The name that can be named is not the eternal name.
The nameless is the beginning of heaven and Earth.
The named is the mother of the ten thousand things.
Ever desireless, one can see the mystery.
Ever desiring, one sees the manifestations.
These two spring from the same source but differ in name; this appears as darkness.
Darkness within darkness.
The gate to all mystery.

Another way to think about this: Forget that you are Yoo Yuong Chon for a moment. Forget your country of origin or where you now live. Forget your gender, your parents, your siblings, your religion, your culture, your beliefs.... Empty yourself completely of everything, all assumptions, belief systems and paradigms and for the moment simply exist on the planet as an empty vessel.

That is the state of Wu: complete emptiness.

Now, from that state of emptiness solve this problem: ....

There is where your answer resides. Emptiness. Wuwei is not possible without Wu. Emptiness.

Taoists are not big on what-ifs (even when they are as certain as death). Essentially Tao flows ever onward. The person you think of as "Yoo Yuong Chon," the person I think of as "John" is the product of our cultures, our experiences and so on. "You" do not exist. Yoo Yuong Chon will be no more after death (this teaching is a main reason I do not fully embrace Taoism by the way).

As Chuang Tzu wrote:

"Since life and death are each others companions, why worry about them? All beings are one."

According to Taoism, the temporarily differentiated "being" ("I am") will cease to be because it (we) never really existed in the first place, but who we really are, beyond all illusion and false (ego) identification will embrace pure yin (the mother of the ten thousand things) and continue on in some way. Nothing real ever ceases to exist. According to Taoism, there is neither birth nor death, neither being nor non-being... there is only undifferentiated Tao.

Taoist concepts are, by their very nature, flowing and not set in stone.

From the Tao Te Ching (Gia Fu Feng and Jane English):

Thirty-seven

Tao abides in non-action [Wuwei],
Yet nothing is left undone.
If kings and lords observed this,
The ten thousand things would develop naturally.
If they still desired to act,
They would return to the simplicity of formless substance.
Without form there is no desire.
Without desire there is tranquility.
And in this way all things would be at peace.

This is the essence of Wuwei. Things are done when the time comes to do them. Because the time to do them has arrived, there is no-doing, there is only observing the timeless flow of Tao and accepting ones part in the Great Mystery.

I used the example of the wooden deck before. It was "time" for me to be in a Taoist monastery and to receive the following: One of my teachers told me to paint a certain deck. It was a bit faded but looked fine to me. I asked why, considering Wuwei: Isn't that "doing?" His answer was basically what I told you before. When there is hunger the natural response is to eat. When the deck needs to be painted the natural response is to paint it. The way of Tao is preserve that which is. My presence and purpose at that "time" and place was to paint the deck. As I did so I had an odd sense of peace, a "knowing" came over me that at that time, I was precisely where I was 'supposed to be" doing exactly what "I was supposed to be doing" and I experienced Wu.

When the king, as in the above quoted canto, sees he needs to act he acts, otherwise he does not. That is the role of a King. When the mom needs to feed the baby she does so because that is the role of the mom. That is Wuwei, Such actions are not "doing" but flowing harmoniously with Tao. How could the mom not feed the child? Its natural. Its non-doing.

If the king gives everyone food why should they farm? If he cloths them why should they knit and sew? If the farmers cease to farm and the tailors cease to sew there is will shortages for everyone. That is not the Way of Tao. So the farmer farms and the tailor sews and there is peace as long as the king does not interfere.

The way of Tao is to do that which needs to be done when and as the time to do them arrives.

This is determined through Wu or Emptiness. The leaders of the people should interfere with this natural process as little as possible. If nothing is done, nothing will be left undone. Which is to say, only in harmony with t'ien ming, the Mandate of Heaven should any action be done and when actions are done in harmony with t'ien ming they are as non-actions because they are simply the onward flow of Tao.

Hope this helps,

Wu, Wuwie and Te

Wu, Wuwie and Te

Questioner: Yoo Yuong Chon Private: no Subject: Taoism Question: Hello, I have three questions here about Taoism that I thought I could understand better if someone who actually knew about Taoism were explaining to me, instead of reading about it.

    1. For Taoists, their main belief wuwei, letting life just run its course. However, what if they are faced with a problem where doing nothing will just make things worse? Do they still stick with their principle, or take another route? For example, I was recently reading about the piled up debts of third world countries to those countries that are more developed. The more developed countries had attempted to help these underdeveloped places by loaning them money to begin their reconstruction. However, now, those underdeveloped countries are having problems repaying their debt in addition to all their other sufferings. Would a Taoist just stand by and let this go on, saying it is the flow of nature, or since this had been caused by interference, would they justify their own interference and tell the governments to cancel these debts?

    2. When Taoists talk about the Mandate of Heaven, what exactly do they mean? They seem to believe in a higher power, but they have no specific god they believe in. Do they believe that there is a supernatural being or do they just believe in a heaven? What exactly do they mean by this heaven?

    3. How do Taoists justify accomplishing anything in life if their main belief is wuwei? Exactly how strictly do practitioners of Taoism stick to their beliefs?

I would really appreciate it if you could answer these for me soon! Thank you so much for reading!

Here's My Reply

What are your thoughts on this?

Hi Chon,

While I have studied Taoism and spent some time living among Taoists, Taoism is not one my stronger suits (nor my personal practice). I will be happy to offer my take on these good questions with this disclaimer.

There are several types of Taoism. Some are more philosophical others are more pragmatic. Tao-chia is the school from which Lao Tsu and Chuang Tsu arose (authors of the Tao Te Ching and Chuang Tsu) and is but one school of Taoism.

The Mandate of Heaven (t'ien ming) is the self-revealing laws of the universe, what is Right, Correct, Self-Evident. The government is "right," else it would not be in place. If it ceases to be "right" it will be replaced when that is correct (no winter lasts forever). It is "right" to obey the king, the police, the soldiers etc. because he is the king, the policeman, the soldier. It is "right" to submit to those things beyond ones control that arise from T'ien Ming because without order there would be Chaos and Chaos is not the Way of Tao.

Of course this authority can be, has been and is even now (and always) abused however... this too is the way of Tao.

In essence, Wuwei or "non-doing" is the belief that Tao (the Unity of Yin and Yang: the polar opposites) is fully sufficient and needs no assistance to properly flow. "If nothing is done nothing will remain undone." All action that predominates either Yin or Yang leads to/results in disharmony. Tao is perfect Harmony.

However... we also are part of the "ten thousand things" that comprise existence. One who is at one with Tao (in "Wu") may feel that the flow is moving him to a certain point and he flows accordingly. When the wooden deck needs to be repainted it is time to paint. Doing so because the time has come to repaint is appropriate action. Repainting so it will be "pretty," "impress the neighbors," increase property values and so on would not be appropriate action (generally speaking). The sage paints the deck when it is time to paint the deck.

One does not "do nothing" when hunger rises, one eats because this is the natural flow of result of hunger. Wuwei is not "leaving undone" it is "non-doing." This can be difficult to grasp but when it is, it is the most natural of concepts.

Being in harmony with the natural flow of Tao is Wuwei. Opposing it would be action out of balance.

How does one know what to non-do? This requires emptiness or "Wu."

It is said:

"The still mind of the sage is the mirror of heaven and earth, the glass of all things. Vacancy, stillness, placidity, tastelessness, quietude, silence, and non-action - this is the Level of heaven and earth, and the perfection of the Tao and its characteristics."

One who is "Wu," who is empty, is at one with the Creator because Wu is the nature of creation. Creation is empty. It is filled by the ten thousand things. What is a glass? It is an empty vessel that waits to be filled.

One who has attained (and/or de-attained) to the state of Wu Consciousness will naturally and without effort "Te" or manifest Tao. Te is the expression of Tao. It is the nature of a glass to be filled. It is the nature of one with is one with Tao to Te (to reflect Tao).

If a Taoist finds himself in the position of leadership in a country and facing a decision, such as you describe, he would empty himself (his consciousness) and do what is appropriate (what is Te).

Once a debtor situation like these countries face (and the US for that matter) is established getting out of this spiral is difficult but still possible. Had good government been in place the whole time these conditions would never have arisen. Now that they exist, a wise ruler would deal with them through Wuwei. This might include measures cutting social service, forgoing all optional expenditures in order to pay off the loans, seeking other venues of revenue or even bankruptcy or dissolution of the state. These Globalist predators are making these loans for the purpose of taking over the countries of course.

I can imagine being a ruler and what I might do, given the authority, however until one is in such situation it is only conjecture and conjecture is not the way of Tao. The solution in any case could be (can be) found in Wu, Wu Wei and Te. Tao needs to be restored/implemented to these countries.

As with most cases, were everyone a Taoist this philosophy would bring world peace.

Since most people are not Taoist its benefits are limited.

Hope this is helpful,

Kelsey Grammer Has A FLOP: Hank Is More Like Mr. Hankey!

I loved Cheers (and hated to see "Woody" leave and become a slime bag on screen and off)! One of the best TV shows of all times in my opinion, and I loved Kelsey Grammer's role as "Frazier" on it.

Then came his TV series "Frazier." He had me hooked from the first episode and "I was listening" and watching and still do watch the re-runs from time to time.

So when we heard about his new show, "Hank," we fired up the DVR and watched it live... then removed the timer during the second commercial break.... (well not really, we decided to give it a couple of episodes but that timer is going down!)... Kelsey Grammer has a flop on his hands I think!

He plays a mealy-mouthed corrupt multimillionaire work-a-holic busted in some sort of scam (not yet identified clearly in this first episode) who is forced to flee the high life for exile in Virginia where he forced -- God forbid -- to pay attention to his wife and kids -- egads! Presumably we're going to see him become a decent but ineffectual father in future episodes (stay tuned for more attacks on fatherhood and the family).

All the while the cast members CONSTANTLY reminded the viewer of his new name (which I forget) while praising Obama! He tells his daughter (the actress is way too old for the role) on the show that her mother is a bad person and that she didn't even vote for Obama! The infidel!

He says, "I could have been president you know! In America anyone can be, even a multimillionaire white male!

Then he insults his "son" (who looks nothing like either parent) for being a fan of Star Wars. Since I played Jedi Master Jarjar Binks in the fan film "Star Wars Made Me THis Way!" I found that a bit rude ;-)

I was sorely disappointed in the series opener. Obama probably liked it....

MAYBE it can be salvaged but I don't think so... and it definitely is not Cheers or Frazier! If I had two thumbs to vote with on a critics show they would both be down and approaching the floor!

Your thoughts?

Be advised that the The Mr. Hankey Song is sort of gross. Your kids have deffinately heard it (and probably know it by heart), but you old folks may be offended! hehe:

The Mr. Hankey Song!
