Warm Regards, The Jewish Advisory Coalition Jewish Tele-Town-Hall Highlights Why an Independent-Democrat, endorsed a Republican: In his introduction, Senator Lieberman spoke of how he defied Democrats to endorse Senator McCain: "I did not cross party lines lightly... I did so because I know John McCain... I know he is a very different kind of Republican, an independent-minded Republican, who has always worked across party-lines to get things done." Why pro-Israel supporters should back John McCain: Senator Lieberman highlighted Senator McCain's strong support of Israel, by emphasizing his long-standing record: "When it comes to the Middle East, Senator McCain's Record on Israel is a 26 Year Record of steadfast support for the American-Israel Relationshipit is not just in his voting record, it is in his heart and in his head based on his own understanding of history and the historic Jewish claim to the land of Israel." John McCain the Maverick: Senator McCain distinguished himself as a maverick who always put country first: "I put my political career on the line to support the surge in Iraqand it succeeded." John McCain on Israel: Senator McCain emphasized his steadfast support for the state of Israel and articulated his position that Jerusalem should remain an undivided city: "Jerusalem remains undivided, and the fact is, it is undivided and must remain the capital of Israel.I will never press Israel into making concessions that would endanger its security. I will move our capital to Jerusalem. It is undivided and must remain the capital of Israel." John McCain on Economy: The Senator also discussed the importance of a balanced government. He warned that a Democratic majority will result in tax and spending increases: "Worst thing you can do in a bad economy is raise people's taxes. We've spent enough. We already owe 10 trillion dollars of our kids money. And we owe China 500 billion dollars" Senator McCain argued that raising taxes would be detrimental to our country in a fiscal crisis. He explained that bi-partisanship and cutting excess government spending would help solve this long-term economic crisis for working-class Americans "Raise no one's taxesstop out of control spendinglet's reach our hands across the aisles and keep our taxes low, restrain spending, give working families a break and keep them in their homes." How Governor Palin has impacted the American Public: Senator McCain and Senator Lieberman emphasized their deep support and respect for Governor Palin as the vice-presidential nominee: "She's touched on something very positive and optimistic(as governor of Alaska) she worked across party linesshe's made a lot of progress."- Senator Lieberman "She represents a lot of what's good about Americathere's no better role model for young Americans"- Senator McCain Why Democrats and Moderate Independents should support Governor Palin: Senator Lieberman solidified his support for Governor Palin in spite of their differences of opinion on social issues: She holds some positions on social issuesI'll be honest, I don't agree withbut she holds them in a very respectful wayshe respects others who come to other positions. How the Democratic Party has changed in favor of McCain: Lieberman encouraged fellow Democrats to support Senator McCain: "I think 8 Clinton years were good yearsfrankly the Democratic Party today is not where it was 8 years ago under Bill Clintonon issues like the economy, trade, foreign policy and government reform: you (John) are more in that tradition than a lot of Democrats" An Undivided Jerusalem: Moving the embassy to Jerusalem Senator McCain ended the call by asking Senator Lieberman to repeat his Jerusalem policy "Senator McCain understands the historic Jewish claim to Jerusalem and to the land of Israelit's clear he will not be involved in efforts to divide Jerusalem." Senator Lieberman reiterated that when McCain becomes President, he will immediately move the US Embassy to Jerusalem "It angers me thatwe refuse to locate our embassy in the place they designate as our capableJohn said 'without hesitation, as soon as I become president'. We already own the land in Jerusalem." Senator Lieberman Calls on the Jewish Community to Rally around McCain: Senator Lieberman urged active for support for senator: "He's tested, and Senator Obama is not tested in a crisis like this.
