JERUSALEM REPORT
From Mike Evans the founder of the Jerusalem Prayer Team

The tragic Chanukah wildfire that killed more than 40 people near Haifa in northern Israel has finally been put out...but the damage is staggering. Thousands of acres and millions of trees were burned, hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed, and thousands of people are returning to try to rebuild their lives.

Firefighters and equipment from many other nations joined with the Israelis to put out the largest fire in Israel's history. Those who were forced to evacuate and still have homes to return to are being allowed to go back. At least 250 homes were damaged or completely destroyed. Many of the surviving homes have suffered such so much structural damage that they will have to be torn down rather than rebuilt.

Thousands are facing the loss of everything they owned, and I am asking you today to join with me to send a special gift to help them. So far 350 Jerusalem Prayer Team members have compassionately responded with a gift of love to bring comfort to those left bereaved, homeless and injured by the Chanukah Fire. But we need at least 1,000 to give before I leave for Israel in just 48 hours. While I am in Israel, I will meet with my personal friend the Mayor of Haifa to deliver your gifts of love and comfort to so many hurting people.

"To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified." (Isaiah 61:3)

Children have been orphaned, wives have lost husbands, and mothers have lost children. Great numbers of people have lost everything they owned. They need food, water, medical supplies, clothing, cleaning supplies, furniture and so much more. We must stand with them now to help these poor and needy people. We must not turn our eyes away from their need or stop our ears from hearing their desperate cries for help.

In two days, I am going to Israel as your ambassador of hope and comfort during this very difficult time. Your gift today will allow the Jerusalem Prayer Team to meet some of the most urgent needs resulting from this great tragedy. This is an opportunity for us to bring help and comfort to the Chosen People and give them beauty among the ashes of what they have lost. Will you send your gift of love today so that we can show these precious Jewish people God's love?

I am asking every member of the Jerusalem Prayer Team to join me in making a special gift to meet the many urgent needs created by this tragic fire. Please join with me right now in praying a commanded blessing on every loving heart that responds in compassion to this urgent request for help.
