Heirs of God and Co-Heirs with Y'shua

Romans 8:16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. These two verses give us hope and security but what are they really telling us?
First let's read the context (I'll be using the American Standard Version for clarity throughout this study. I prefer the KJV but the ASV is also good and a bit easier to understand at times):
Romans 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
The short answer is that we inherit freedom from the spirit of bondage (to sins, doubts, legalism, etc) and receive all the benefits of adoption into the family of God.
Understand that this inheritance is not received after we die but after we are "born again" (Gal 3:1-5).
I John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
NOW are we the children of God... This freedom is ours now and it is irrevocable once granted as taught in the Doctrine of Eternal Security and the Scriptures: "... for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance" (Rom. 11:29)! As adopted children of God we are granted access to God our Parent. As heirs we inherit a direct relationship with God, the opportunity to harmonize our will with God's Will and the privilege of serving Him as free sons and daughters.
Now here's a somewhat more detailed explanation.
What are we adopted into:
God's Eternal Covenant is with the Jewish people.
Genesis 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.
Through Master Y'shua (Jesus) Believers are "adopted" into the Family of God. This is what salvation is: By His unmerited Grace God adopts us into His Holy family.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
We are accounted as younger brothers and sisters of people Israel SOLELY because of God's Grace and mercy. Yes, we are called to act on this faith and priceless gift, to try and live righteous lives, to feed the hungry, house the homeless, work for peace, encourage people in God... BUT we are adopted into the family of God (saved) by HaShem's Grace alone. We do not deserve this Grace, we did not earn this Grace and NOTHING we can do will maintain this Grace... Its "Not of works, lest anyone should boast." However in gratitude we serve, purify ourselves, promote peace and so on. By doing such things our walk with God becomes more intimate and we enter ever deeper into His Way.
Paul clarifies our relationship with Israel three chapters later in Romans 11. There he explains that followers of the Way are "grafted" onto the "Tree of Israel." It is THEIR tree, not ours but due to the adoption we are allowed to live the family home by HaShem's Grace as Y'shua draws us as our High Priest (Heb 4:15)!
There is no room for false ego in any of this! We don't deserve it no matter how the Laodecians may strut!
We have obtained utterly undesired mercy and become the adopted sons and daughters of the God of Israel through the Way opened to us by Master Y'shua. All glory belongs to God alone.
Y'shua is our elder brother:
Hebrews 2:11 For both he that sanctifieth and they that are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he [Y'shua] is not ashamed to call them [us] brethren...
Therefore by virtue of the righteous Jew Y'shua ben Miriam of Nazareth acting as our mediator we inherit "a share" in the blessings of the God of Israel.
I Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Matt 3:9 And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And I say to my friends,
Think not to say within yourselves, We have Jesus as our Savior: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up disciples unto Jesus! The main thing lacking in the Laodecian Church of today is humility and understanding what it means to be adopted into the Family of HaShem! As the saying goes, "Being born into a Christian family doesn't make one a Christian any more than being born in a bakery makes one a bagel.
Note that the Church does NOT replace the Jews and never will! By God's unmerited Grace we have been granted a share with them in the blessings of the One God through Noah and Abraham. It is in this way that we have become "spiritual Israel." All who have been truly "Born Again," who have accepted Master Y'shua as their "Mediator" with HaShem and have been adopted into the Family of God, have been granted access to the House of the Master (Israel). We along with them have become the Elect and should always honor them as our elder brothers and sisters. Along with them we inherit eternal life by God's mercy, access to the Father and eventually a place in His Kingdom.
20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.
Micah 6:6 Wherewith shall I come before Jehovah, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt-offerings, with calves a year old?
7 will Jehovah be pleased with thousands of rams, [or] with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my first-born for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 He hath showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Jehovah require of thee, but to do justly, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with thy God?
9 The voice of Jehovah crieth unto the city, and [the man of] wisdom will see thy name: hear ye the rod, and who hath appointed it.

What of The NEW Covenant, and The New Covenant "Jew"(Believer)?

Jer 31:31-37 "Behold, the days come, says YHWH, that I will make a NEW COVENANT with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: NOT ACCORDING TO THE COVENANT THAT I MADE WITH THEIR FATHERS IN THE TIME THAT I TOOK THEM BY THE HAND TO BRING THEM OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT FOR THEY BROKE THAT COVENANT, although I was an husband unto them, says YHWH: (Thankfully no longer natural "fathers" but YHWH, "Our Father" in "the NEWness of The Spirit not the letter")
But this shall be the NEW covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, says YHWH, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts(not in stone, but in their heart consciousness); and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be MY people. ("Come Out of her, MY people"! Come out of this world and it's systems of religion)
And every man shall no longer teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, "Know YHWH", for they shall all know ME, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, says YHWH: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
Thus says YHWH, which gives the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divides the sea when the waves thereof roar; YHWH of hosts is HIS name:
If those ordinances depart from before ME, says YHWH, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before ME for ever.
Thus says YHWH; If Heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, says YHWH."

The NEW Covenant established The Truth that, "he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, whose circumcision is that of the flesh, he is a Jew who is one inwardly, whose circumcision is of the heart" as he was immersed in, of, by and through The Holy, Set Apart Spirit that is of The Only True G-D, Father(Creator) of ALL. And all gentile NEW Covenant Believers are "grafted into The Good olive tree", they are of The NEW Covenant Jews.......

And The NEW Spiritual Israel?
"A Holy nation".......
"A nation of kings and priests" indeed and Truth, and all New Covenant Believers are "strangers and pilgrims on the earth" whose "citizenship (Life) is in Heaven".
They are not of this wicked, evil world and it's systems of religion because they have taken heed unto The Call of The Only True G-D, Father (Creator) of ALL to "Come out of her, MY people".......
The NEW Covenant Believers have taken heed unto The Call to "Come Out" are have "set their affections on things above, Heavenly things" and no longer are of those "whose god is their bellies, and whose glory is in their shame, because they mind earthly things", they are no longer of those who "love this world and their own life in, and of it".......
Sadly, there are multitudes who profess a belief in The Messiah with their mouth only for they are "friends of this world", for they "love this world and it's things" and they "love their own life in and of the world" .......
All such will hear those woe filled words, "Depart from ME all you workers of iniquity".......
Thankfully The NEW Covenant Believers, The Brethren of The Messiah, have their "citizenship(Life) in Heaven" for they are "A Holy nation" of "kings and priests", all of whom are thankful that, that which was "decaying and waxing old" DID "vanish away" with the destruction of the natural, earthly kingdom centered in jerusalem. The old covenant vanished away, The NEW Covenant WAS, IS and always WILL BE!
At the time the old covenant vanished away "THY Kingdom" DID "Come" and IS, for The Messiah delivered up The Kingdom unto His G-D and Father(Creator), and The Kingdom of The Only True G-D in Heaven WAS, IS, and ALWAYS WILL BE indeed and Truth.......
No longer old, natural, earthly and temporal, The Kingdom of The Only True G-D WAS, IS, and ALWAYS WILL BE Spiritual, Heavenly and Eternal.......
And so it is that yesterday, today, and if there be a tomorrow, that "the chosen ones", "the elect", The NEW Covenant Believer, the Spiritual Jew, "The Brethren of The Messiah", continue to "fight the good fight of Faith" as they but seek and desire that which is Spiritual, Heavenly and Eternal.......
Father Help! and HE does.......
