I Got A Response From Baldwin's Chief of Staff...

I recently re-posted a piece by Chuck Baldwin that I liked entitled, It Is Getting Very Serious Now. As I normally do when posting his writings, I prefaced with my opposition to Baldwin's desire to abandon Israel because, in part, I do not want anyone to think I support any politician who would stand against Israel, as Mr. Baldwin does. No one agrees with anyone on everything of course and Mr. Baldwin is a voice well worth hearing. As my regular readers know, standing with Israel is an area I am adamant on and the preface seemed appropriate.

Apparently someone reading that piece on my Blogspot managed to contact someone at the Baldwin offices and I received a response from Chris Welman, Chief of Staff to Mr. Baldwin.

My reply to Mr. Welman is first, followed by his unedited letter of disagreement with my views of Mr. Baldwin.

Do you agree or disagree with my take on this? Let's discuss it.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for writing. I've written several e-mails to Mr. Baldwin's campaign seeking clarification on his positions and thus far received not a single response of any kind from anyone there (other than a couple of form letters). All I can do judge this tree by its fruit.

He (and Ron Paul) would have a LOT more support by nationalist-minded Americans if they would stand with our only real ally in the Middle East. Instead they want to abandon them.

Chuck Baldwin (and Ron Paul) strongly support abandoning Israel to the Islamic Ummah and cutting off all U.S. Aid to Israel:

This is a fact.

This would leave billions of U.S. dollars going to the countries of the Islamic Ummah via oil profits, UN, World Bank, and other globalist monies and nothing of substance for Israel. With friends like this Israel needs no enemies!

What is Antisemitism? One definition is deliberately doing harm to the Jewish people and/or the Jewish state. If Chuck Baldwin managed to have his way he would be responsible for the destruction of Israel and the genocide of around 6 million Jews as the armies of Islam swept across Eretz Israel. God aside for the moment, the only reason Israel exists is because of US support. Remove that support and, short of Divine intervention, Israel is wiped off the map. This is what Mr. Baldwin is advocating. Is this Antisemitism? Judge for yourself.

Talk is cheap. Mr Baldwin can say whatever he wants. What he would DO given the chance, based on his own words, is what we have to go on and he says he would have the U.S. abandon Israel (as you confirm)! As an American I strongly oppose this and along with God only knows how many other Americans I opposed Mr. Baldwin's run for the White House because of his stand on this issue.

Chris: ...Dr. Baldwin supports Israel's right to exist, and believes that God made an everlasting covenant with Israel. He does not, however, support taxpayer dollars going to foreign governments, including Israel's, and believes Israel should be allowed to determine what is best for her own safety and security (without the U.S. hampering Israel's efforts to protect herself effectively).

JoA: The Scripture addresses this kind of 'support':

James 2:15: If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Such empty words of "support" for Israel, while advocating withdrawing even the comparatively meager aid we now give, are meaningless and 'Laodecian' (Rev. 3:14-19).

And the Scripture adds:

Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will show thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

People like Mr. Baldwin often say, as you do here: ... (without the U.S. hampering Israel's efforts to protect herself effectively).... as though the only alternative is to hamper them or abandon them!

NO! We as a nation COULD bless Israel and then God's blessings MIGHT return to us. Instead we are a curse to them and God is rightly abandoning us! Mr. Baldwin needs to advocate that the U.S. cut off ALL aid to any and every country and group that refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist securely in at least their present borders, to any and every country or group that attacks Israel, AND we should stand firmly with Israel as they determine what is in their best interests!

We desperately need American Nationalists and politicians who have the backbone to STAND for what is right! To tell the Arab world in no uncertain terms that the United States stands firmly and unconditionally with Israel!

Instead even the so-called Patriot Movement is filled -- with fortunately some notable exceptions -- by people like Mr. Baldwin who advocates standing down as the Arab world prepares to genocide the Jewish people in their own land!

I have nothing to retract.

There yet remain some in this beleaguered land who are willing to stand for justice and with the People of God. Its a shame Mr. Baldwin is not among them.

Sincerely,
John of AllFaith

Greetings, John.

It was recently brought to our attention that you wrote: "Mr. Baldwin advocates the destruction of Israel." And that you labeled him antisemitic.

http://johnofallfaith.blogspot.com:80/2009/05/is-getting-very-serious-now-by-chuck.html

This is simply not true, and I hope you will do whatever you can to retract that assertion.

Dr. Here are a few columns by Dr. Baldwin, going back several years, mentioning some of these beliefs with regard to Israel.

We have no idea what made you believe what you wrote about Dr. Baldwin's position on Israel, but hope you will realize you are telling your readers something that is in direct opposition to Dr. Baldwin's true feelings about the nation of Israel.

Best regards,

Chris Welman
